| Really liking the multi-levelled sections, exactly what I'm going for with my scenery at the moment. It looks like it'll have an awesome impression of depth when it's finished. | |

| the one thing here that really stands out for me is the criss-cross pattern on the house walls. It's a nice touch of detail imo. Keep going! | |

| Keepin' an eye on this one. Rivals Wolfgang's epic table in my humble opinion. The criss-cross pattern on the house walls, is it wallpaper too? And are all visible wood balsa or do you have some sturdier battens in there? I take it all buildings are to be permanently fixed to the base? | |

| I’ve nicked plenty of ideas from Wolfgang’s astonishing work, but I wouldn’t be bold enough to claim to rival it – I am very flattered by the comparison but I think my effort is but a weak imitation of the maestro’s work. Be that as it may I’m still very pleased with how it’s turning out and I’m glad to read yours and everyone’s generous comments.
You are quite correct in thinking that the texture on the timbered walls is wall paper – I think it looks pretty effective once painted. I use thin balsa for the facing timbers and corners and insert square section balsa for any exposed/broken timbers. At the moment I’m using coffee stirrers for my floorboards supported by square section basswood joists where necessary. The roof timbers are mostly long cooks matches which are cheap, easy to work and a convenient size – if you haven’t guessed they are purely cosmetic and serve no structural purpose, although they do help to give a slightly ribbed effect to the way the roof tiles sit sometimes. The roofs are constructed from card which is then covered on both sides with double sided tape. This way I can fix the individual tiles without having to muck about gluing them. On the underside I fix my matchstick joists spaced with strips of finely corrugated paper to give the impression of thin supporting laths. The matchstick roof timbers are just held in place with the double sided tape until I can give them a healthy dab of wood glue to fix them.
The buildings are not fixed in place. As my flat is fairly small I will need to stack the boards away. I’ve designed the buildings to sit into cut outs in the boards so they can be removed and stored separately. Because of the different levels it’s not really possible to have a nice flush board once all the buildings are removed, so I’ve allowed around 30mm (about 1 ¼ inches) for certain fixed items to protrude up from street level. When I have leisure I will take some pictures showing the board with the buildings removed to demonstrate. I will be making foam spacers to plug into the building cut outs so I can stack the boards on top of each other without crushing or damaging the fixed items.

| I like the way how you did the roof tops so much that I changed it on my buildings too! I also thought on Wolfgang's Mordheim table when I saw your pictures! | |

| Looks soooooooooooooooooooooo good!
But the board looks like it is going to favor shooty warbands pretty heavily, with all the open streets and the way the buildings are built with solid outward faces (windows to shoot from, but no way to get up and in aside from going around the back)

Can't wait to see this fully painted and filled with adventurers.
