Well, what can I say? I just liked the thought to add a little biological warfare to the game. Please tell me if you like the idea Smile

Leprous Outcast

Special To Hire and Upkeep cost

Fluff:

After the comet struck Mordheim, many of the surviving citizens fell prey to various diseases of more or less chaotic nature. Those who somehow managed to stay alive were shunned even by the other miserable creatures inhabiting the ruins and were doomed to live a life of loneliness and desperation. Just now and then it happens that a warband comes across one of those outcasts and decides to let him accompany them out of pity (although they'll always assure he keeps his distance... just in case.). These miserable beings can hardly be called warriors, but nonetheless the'yre able to instill fear in the hearts of their protector's enemies, as even being touched by them will possibly infect them with the plague they carry and make even the strongest of fighters join their misery...

May be hired: Mercenaries, Sister of Sigmar, Witch Hunters and Carnival of Chaos warbands may hire the Leprous Outcast.

Rating: ??? (still have not much experience with calculating that out... any ideas?)

M WS BS S T W I A Ld

4 2 2 2 3 1 4 1 6

Equipment: Crook (counts as a club) and dagger.

Skills: The Leprous Outcast may choose from the Speed Skill list when he gains a skill.

SPECIAL RULES:

Special Hire and Upkeep: An Outcast ist doomed to die soon anyway and therefore joins a warband more out of the longing for company then to earn money. To represent that, no hire or upkeep costs must be payed. However, there is a slight chance that the Outcast will infect other members of the warband. After recruiting the outcast and after every battle he's fought in and survived roll a D6 and consult the following chart:

1-2 Minor symptoms. A henchman of a randomly determined henchmen group must miss the next battle.

3-4 Nothing has happened.

5 Severe infection! A randomly determined hero from your warband must instantly roll on the "Serious Injury"-table as if he'd been taken out of action in battle. Re- roll all results of "Robbed", Captured" and "Sold to the Pits".

6 The disease has finally won. Remove the Outcast from your warband roster.

Reclusive: The Outcast is afraid of those who he thinks to be responsible for his suffering and has to be convinced in the same way as a Witch whenever a Carnival of Chaos warband tries to hire him.

The Plague: The Outcast is "blessed" (more cursed in his opinion!) with the dreaded Nurgle's Rot, as described for the Carnival of Chaos warband.

Hm, I like the idea of having a diseased guy in your warband, but I'm not so sure I'd risk all the infection or possible death of my warband members for a slight chance to perhaps infect some enemy with nurgles rot.

Yeah, well, I guess it needs to be playtested. I just invented the rules while writiing on them, but didn't review them. On the other hand I thought a 1 out of 6 chance for a hero getting wounded (not necessarily killed) and a two out of 6 chance for a single henchman missing a battle aren't that bad for having a model with a kick-ass ability like Nurgle's Rot in your band. But then again, of course with his crappy stats it'll be a game of luck.

So what would you suggest altering?

Hm, hard to say, I'm not really a rules guy myself Wink Better wait for the guys who have some experience.

First off, to warn you, a lot of players really don't like the Nurgle's Rot rules, as they are kind of mean. Some people might like it, but as it slowly eats away at other players, expect some negative reaction.

That being said, it makes more sense to have his disease effect be the same as Nurgle's Rot. Right now, any warband with him has a 1/2 chance or hurting one of their other members, and a 1/6th chance of losing the hired sword each game. WAY too high. No one will want him.

Instead, just use the Nurgle's Rot. Each game, make a toughness test. If you roll equal or under, he's fine. If you roll over, he's at -1 T. If you roll a natural 6, someone else catches the rot. What you give to others, you risk giving yourself.

That being said, he might still cost a small fee. Maybe, 15gc hiring, and 5gc upkeep?

Also, I'd change Speed skills to Academic skills- A guy who needs a crutch and is losing his digits doesn't strike me as someone who can sprint and climb buildings. Instead, give him this ability:

"Lend a Hand: If the Leper learns the skills Haggle, Streetwise, or Wyrdstone Hunter, he may lend that skill to ONE hero during the postgame phase. He may not lend each skill more than once per post game, and only to a hero that does not already know that skill."

Thus, like many beggar figures in RPGs, he's good at scrounging and scraping.
