I'm writing up a campaign set in Stirland, near the border with Sylvania and am currently coming up with hired swords/DPs that the warbands can hire.

I've been going through the background of the empire and found one that sticks out as being appropriate - The Order of the Sacred Sythe (see here).

Thinking something on the lines of:

M4 WS4 BS3 S4 T4 W1 I4 A2 Ld9

Equipment: Sythe, Heavy Armour, Garlic, ?.

Skills: Lightning Reflexes, ?.

Special Rules:

Blessings of Morr: Before each battle the knight bestows Morr's blessings on the warriors of the warband in order to ward off the machinations of the Undead.
All members (including henchmen) of the warband count as being equipped with garlic.

Hatred of the Undead:
The Knight of the Sacred Sythe Hates all forms of undead and necromancers.

Sythe: I'm not sure here; Double-handed? Halberd? Are there any existing rules for sythes?

Upkeep:
I'm thinking 40/20, but free after a battle with Undead (as he won't charge to do his duty)?

Rating:
+12? Seems to be a common value.

Should he have any other skills?
I'm thinking Strength and Combat skills for advances?

Is Blessings of Morr powerful enough? After all it only affects Vampires rather than Undead (though having the whole warband hate and/or cause fear in undead would be way too powerful).

I like this a lot, bags of flavour (and not just cause of his garlic Wink )

There are a couple of versions out there for a scythe :

"Scythe (from http://www.inisfail.com/oldsage/mordheim/mordheim-priests-of-morr.html )

Range: Close Combat; Strength: As user +1; Special Rules: Difficult to use, Two Handed

Scythes are normally implaments[sic] used in the fields by farmers. It is rare to see them weilded as weapons of warfare. However, the scythe also carries with it an image of death. It is the symbol of the Grim Reaper, the representation of famine and starvation and disease through the lack of harvested food. Priests of Morr, when they need to, may carry a Scythe as a weapon. This is of heavier manufacture, and designed to reap warriors rather than wheat. Because the Scythe is unwieldly, it must be used with two-hands and cannot be used with another weapon, shield or buckler."

"Scythe (Two-Handed Weapon; +2S, strike last)" (from http://www.killershrike.com/Mordheim/HiredSwords/PriestMorr.aspx )

War-scythe:

A heavy weapon, greater weight than the agricultural tool and only visually resembling it in it's use. Best employed in a sweeping slash against multiple aggressors, it's real effectiveness comes from the age-old symbolism affixed to it.

Range: Close Combat, Strength: As User, Special Rules: Two-handed, Scything Attack.

Scything Attack:
The war-scythe is better suited to wide slashing arcs against multiple foes, cutting down the decayed crop of the undead ranks and catching their leaders unaware.

In the first round of combat, the wielder of a war-scythe may replace his attacks with a number equal to the number of models in combat with them. Each attack must be allocated to a different model. In addition, a war-scythe strikes first in the first round of combat.
