| Well, the title is slightly misleading at the moment, as I won't be able to take photographs with a bird's-eye view until I'm next in the club with a whole board set up, but until then, here's some individual shots of finished buildings. I'll add to these as I photograph/complete more. So, on to the photographs. These are clearer shots of the finished buildings in the WIP thread. I wish models climbed them more... Next post - something REALLY ruined... | |

| Next up is a converted GW plastic chapel. Basically, I cut out one wall to make it into a stables (sort of like Napolean using churches to stable his horses during the Peninsular War), and added a little paddock to one side. Here it is: And here's a fortified manor house, now in ruins, that is built largely from scratch. I used the GW Lord of the Rings walls to give the walls texture, and the rest is foamcore, balsa wood, lichen, and a pringles tube. Here it is: And here's another view: More to come... | |

| And finally (because Photobucket keeps switching images on me, and refusing to save modified photos), here are a couple of shots of a statue that I'm pretty proud of. In our current campaign, we say that it has absorbed some of the virtue of the knight it depicts, so that any model standing on the pedestal receives a 4+ save against hostile magic. Nobody's ever had a chance to get the save yet! And finally, apologies for the size of some of these images. I click on one image to get the image code, and photobucket gives me a different image. It's very frustrating! Anyway, hope you like them! | |

| Some cool stuff. I really like the ruined "twin... houses". It's cool to have these small dark alleyways between buildings. That's very atmospheric. | |

| COOL STUFF! The completed buildings give a better idea where you're going with the one's in your WIP thread, AND, now, I REALLY want to see those WIP finished. They are all beautiful, but I LOVE the converted stable [Napoleon DID have a way of endearing himself to the Spanish folk ]; it's probably the BEST piece I've seen using GW's scenery bits. tkkultist has some nice GW pieces under way; stiff competitiom there. VERY WELL DONE! | |

| I like the scenery having an effect on the warbands, but maybe it'd only have an effect on certain ones, the "good" aligned warbands and then maybe it could even have a negative effect on "evil" warbands. You'd have to add an evil piece of scenery then of course though! I really like it though mate though it could do with a bit of verdigris... | |

| Thanks everyone! I have more terrain than this, of course, which I'll take photos of over the coming week or two. Some of it is 'store bought', but I've painted it up nonetheless so I'll show pictures!
Drugart - thank you! The statue was pretty easy to make. I found a suitably sized piece of insulation foam, and carved it to look like stone blocks. Then I put GW rough coat on it. Big mistake. They claimed in white dwarf that you can spray that stuff straight on to styrofoam, but trust me, you can't. Still, it just looks like it's been melted by magic, or something, so that's ok. The statue itself is just an Empire Knight. Looks nice, though!
Cianty - thanks! I do like the two towers, I have to say. I base most of my buildings with a small 'lip' around the footprint of the building so that when we butt the bases together you get cool little alleys between the buildings. It's tough to move models around, but it looks great when they're in there!
Nala - thank you very much! I do like the stables a lot. The GW terrain paints up really, really well. It's a shame it's not pre-ruined! I've seen tkkultist's stuff as well, and it's good. Just goes to show you can get some good effects out of those kits. I've also used converted 40k cities of death kits to make mausoleums and tombs for Mordheim.
Thanks jackanory - and you're right about the magic save, of course, except that we didn't have a second tower, so we just decided that the statue was a sort of 'magic magnet'. Unless the spell was a 'friendly one'... As far as the verdigris is concerned - it's actually there, but my poor photography skills washed it out. I'll see if I can get it in some future photos.
More photographs to follow over the next week or two! | |

| I just realised that what I said might have sounded like a bit of a downer but in all honesty I really like all those pieces, would love to see some warbands fighting their way through that alley lol! | |

| Fights in the alleyways are a lot of fun. If you've got a close combat specialist in the lead, he can hold up an entire warband - unless they've got pistols. Pistols really come into their own in the alleyways of Hawkeye's Morhdeim. That's why I gave him a pair! | |

| Other than some of the Mordheim plactic pieces, I must admit that I haven't used much of GW's scenery stuff for fantasy modeling. I DID, however, do a board for 40K City Fight using GW stuff in combination with foam. Their stuff is VERY nicely done with a lot of atmospheric touches. It seems to wok best in comination with homegrown stuff as it, like their vehicles, is a bit on the small size scalewise. | |
