PostSubject: My side of town [updated 29/9]   Fri 9 Sep 2011 - 7:36

Greetings, ye wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I've been a lurker on these forums for quite some time now while working on terrain for my mordheim group. I've gained a lot of inspiration and ideas from you guys and I thought it's time for me to give something back to the community - so without further ado;

Sigmar's Square

Random House

First building I ever made, accidentally used a black basecoat with a glossy finish so all the colors came out wrong Embarassed

Merchant's Manor (W.I.P)

Well, since this you're first post...WELCOME ABOARD Cool Tom the A's Sleep Yet Surprisingly Inspirational Mordheim Forum. Have a LONG & MERRY stay! cheers

Like the other Guys who start their active stage of Forum-hood with a post of their WORKS OF WONDER, it is a FINE way of introducing yourself.
The buildings & square are LOVELY in their own Mordheimy sort of way. One little feature that I really love is that closed overhang section of the lower building; it adds an interesting what-could-be-lurking-in-there mystery feel to the building. GREAT STUFF...keep up the FINE WORK! thumbsup

Wow! Great way to introduce yourself. I'd love to hear how you made the twin-taiiled comet for Sigmar's Square.

The merchants manor is looking really cool, and the square too, even if some Slaanesh cultists have painted it Laughing

First of all; cheers everyone and thank you kindly for the warm welcome!

@luckyjoe; the square is made of styrofoam so I simply drew the comet and etched it with a pen, much like the rocks. I'll take a couple of wip pictures when I get to the morr-themed one.

@qboid; I blame tzeentch for corrupting my red gore Very Happy

Next up is the district clocktower, stay put for W.I.P's!

Good work!

That Sigmar platform is Really nice!

The fences are scratch built?

Can you show us how you did them?

Waiting to see more of your work, and WELCOME TO OUR FORUM.

Best wishes.

PostSubject: Clocktower update   Wed 14 Sep 2011 - 5:10

Another week, another project. I'm starting to realize that I'm caught up in a building-spree, forsaking sleep for endless nights with my trusty old glue gun. Now, let me introduce the CLOCKTOWER, lair of my crazed WH flagellants. It's going to be a couple of inches taller with a styrofoam base and some chapel chimneys, enjoy Smile

@Magokiron; the fences are scratch built and you can find the tutorial in Boreas_NLs fantastic mordheim thread

VERY, VERY NICE! You've reached new heights with your project...pun only intended if found amusing Suspect . You've got some really interesting, eye-catching angles to the Beasty; the woodwork looks GREAT. thumbsup
Even more than doing the minis, terrain building is addictive. Each new piece provides ideas, inspiration, & motivation for the next piece. There probably should be a 12 step program for it, but you rarely see anyone lying in the gutter with a glue in their hands. clown

PostSubject: Update 22/9   Thu 22 Sep 2011 - 7:41

A few pictures of the merchants manor, it's almost done but I still haven't decided how to paint the roof tiles. The lowest floor is supposed to be the merchants warehouse and I'm thinking of building a tower of crates that models can use as a ladder. Probably going to get the clocktower done this week as well, just waiting for a couple of warhammer chimneys from ebay Smile

Awesome job man, its right to my taste of buildings, excellent. The plaster on the inner side of the walls looks amazing, and the highlighttingwork too, great job! Looks like one of those houses where two complete Warbands could fight each other without getting in ones way, like it.

Great work.
must be my eyes playing tricks on me but i sware the first few pics on that last set (the merchent house) the paper towles were a part of the building you added late and constructed to fit in well. I was thinking the start of a grannary. The idea is apealing to me to make one my self now... just not good yet with my construction projects.

VERY NICELY DONE! The painting is BEAUTIFUL, & the crates add to the building's background in a most effective way. thumbsup

Thanks mate! I've been experimenting a lot with plaster and drybrushing lately, it's amazing how easy it is to achieve good textures with it (although the technique keeps eating up my brushes :X)

Now when you put it that way...guess I just realised what I'll do when I'm done with the tower Wink I've seen some crazily creative granaries and windmills on this forum and I've always been a fan of this one from warhammer online;

I'm slightly disappointed that you missed the skaven in the overhang, I was going to leave it alone until you pointed it out Very Happy Guess I need to get a real camera so I can give y'all some quality close-ups!

That warehouse looks great! And it looks like it will also be very easy to use in playing. I went back over the pics but don't see the "skaven in the overhang". Where's it at?

That windmill will make an awesome tower in Mordheim. Can't wait to see how you get on with it.

Small update, got my warhammer house bits from ebay this morning and I've been playing around a bit with blu-tac. I'm pleased with the result but I think that the actual clock could be bigger. Gonna paint this beast come weekend so expect another update early next week Smile
