Are the double-barreled weapons (pistol and hunting rifle) exclusive for the ostlander warbands or may be purchased by anyone?

If they aren't in the Equipment list you buy from between games (The one in the main rulebook), they are not for everyone. Smile

Much as I would wish it to be otherwise. I have modelled my Orc warboss with a double-barrelled hunting rifle, because I thought that was just such an awesomely orcy interpretation of a sniper rifle. I made the warband for the Relics of the Crusade campaign we are doing at the moment and he is on the Path of the Merchant so there is a reasonable chance he will be able to get one.

Lord O - I thought blackpowder weapons weren't allowed in Relics... it's set pre-gunpowder.

Theorex - I'm going to have to give a dissenting opinion. Most special weapons for a warband always say who can take them, (ex. the Dwarf Axe says "Dwarves only", the Elven Banner says "Elves only.") The double-barreled weapons don't say one way or another, so it's kinda vague. At the very least, if your group did allow you to get them, you'd need the skill Weapons Expert to use them (as they are not a part of his normal list.)

[Shameless] You can find them easy in Sartosa. As Crazy Sven says, 'If it goes boom, it's in the back room!' [/shameless] pirat

Relics--we ignored the no black-powder rules too, (because I was tying the campaign to an on-line warhammer campaign. I do that a lot.)

Topic--I was going to post a similar question last night. I've been making some location specific trading charts and I noticed that the Lustria: Cities of Gold Chart doesn't include Hunting Rifles or Heavy Armor.

What does that mean for Mercenary warbands? Purchase it at the start or never? The same with Dwarf warbands, Gromril is not a choice at all.

Or can those warbands still access the item like Dwarfs can purchase their axes and Amazons can buy an Amulet of the Moon or Claw of the Old Ones?

In my southlands setting I've been slowly working on gear like heavy armor is given a rarity of 5. Any item that is in your list but not readily available in the southlands list gains rare 5 as you have to ask around, but there are enough merchants from the old world that come to the region so it isn't hard, just time consuming to find.

If it's in the rulebook equipment list, or in some special equipment list you're using, you can get it between games for anyone. If it isn't, and just is in, say, the Mercenary equipment list, anyone may not take them, just mercenaries. Right? Smile

If you want something from the Mercenary-list , that is not labeled "Mercenaries only" (blunderbuss for my WH for example) you can get it by trading from a mercenary player or maybe some other source (e.g. I do not know in detail what all the hired-sword merchants are up to). Anyway, you'll need the weapons master (or the ranged equivalent) skill.
This is how I see it works RAW-wise. House rules are up to anybody, of course.

@StyrfoamKing Oh yeah - forgot we made that house-rule. We took that out because we were interested in the Path system and wanted to see if something similar could work in, say, Empire in Flames. Normally we try a campaign or game unchanged first, but this time we took out the availability restrictions for black powder weapons and anything else that is available in EiF.
