Hi,

My goal for my last few dwarf warbands has been to make one of them a spellcaster (runesmith). Either through playing the Great Library scenario (where books scattered in the area may give you an academic skill) or by getting resource hunter with a few heroes and then try to roll 2 2 2 2 2 in exploration, to get access to academic skills. I would then pick the Arcane Lore skill, try to get a Tome of Magic to get a spellcaster.
Yes, I know it's quite hard to achieve but like I said, I've been trying with a few warbands (as opposed to a few games).
I don't much like the idea of having a Lesser Magic Dwarf spellcaster (considering dwarves' thoughts on magic). We already allow any warband to make an additional spellcaster of their own kind (for example, a Skaven Assassin Adept with arcane lore and a tome of magic may use the Magic of the Horned Rat rather than Lesser Magic if he opts to), so I don't think my gaming group would be very opposed to the idea of letting my dwarves have their on spell list if I presented something not too overpowered. As far as I understand (I've never played WFB) Dwarf Runes could be something similar to magic. Has anyone written a list for Mordheim? If not, do you have any tips on what runes could be like in Mordheim?

There are two established Runesmith characters for Mordheim. Here are links to the material, which includes the Mordheim rules for Dwarf Runes.

1. The warband leader of the Dwarf Rangers warband from the Nemesis Crown campaign is a Runesmith. Check out the support web site here: http://www.mordheim-nemesiscrown.de.vu

2. Nemesis Crown supplement for Mordheim also included a Journeyman Runesmith as a Hired Sword. This character can be referenced alongside other Dwarf specialists in the Hired Swords compendium Swords of the Empire.

Worst comes to worst, you could treat it as a bound spell- the Lesser Magic is forged onto a ring, and released at the right time. You get +2 on all difficulty rolls- however, once successfully cast, the spell cannot be recast the remainder of the game.
