Mordheim state troop colors

I'm thinking of building an empire army with a Mordheim theme. A few questions. Do you know...

What colors the city troops had? Like red and yellow?

Was it ruffles and lots of feathers?

Was there a pirate theme from being on the river?

What devices/design were on their shields? Was it skulls or a crow or double headed eagle?

What would the banners have looked like? Stripes or checkers or murals?

Where could I find these answers? Were there any books or what articles has the fluff that would describe it?

I'm thinking I'll model them up as if it was after the metior struck so I can go a bit wild with conversions...

At the time of its destruction Mordheim is the capital of the province of Ostermark, whose provincial colors are yellow and purple or purple and white.

Probably, according to the GW background nothing changes in the Warhammer World. The official Mordheim miniatures tell a lot, although they are warbands not State Troops.

The most exhaustive background for Mordheim was written in Town Cryer starting with issue 21.
For Empire images the Warhammer Empire Army book is a start. There is also a book of Empire Heraldry available form GW.

I would have to say fish emblems on the shields would be totally Mordheim.

The Uniforms and Heraldry of The Empire book is a bit pricey but well worth getting your hands on. It lists the state colours as purple and yellow or purple and white, and the state emblem is the crowned manicore shown on the flag in the first link. There's also a shield design with a yellow twin tailed comet outline with the Mordheim 'M' in the middle which looks cool but could be fiddly to paint on a whole army. I agree with Figgy, there is no symbol more in keeping with Mordheim than an evil looking fish (or apple cores ). The Dwarf treasure hunters warband has a shield with a fish design which would work really well.

This month's WD (374) has a six page article showing an example of an Empire army from Ostermark. It's well worth a look for inspiration and the overall look of an army in Ostermark state colours.
