After nearly two weeks without internet I'm back. Smile

And i've finally made something human (I never pick humans, but the swordsmen were too good to pass up)

I'm using the Reiklanders list to emulate a group of watchmen that survived the cataclysm in Mordheim.

BIO: Steinhardts 10th were a squad of watchmen in Mordheim at the turn of the millenium. They were some of the few remaining guards that patrolled the streets but they're job was hellish. After being called to investigate a possible cult of chaos, they found themselves in a wine cellar underneath a nobles house. They defeated the worshippers but the comet struck before any celebration could be had. They survived the blast through sheer luck (most of them anyway) and now they patrol the streets trying to survive in what remains of their shattered home. They have only one purpose, revenge on the Shadowlord.

And here they are (See if you can spot the theme Wink )

Captain FIllion (Mercenary Captain) - COMING SOON
Sergeant Torres (Champion) - COMING SOON
Sergeant Baldwin (Champion) - COMING SOON
Novice Maher (Youngblood)
Steinhardts Tenth (The Browncoats) Gedc0598

The Reevus Brothers (Marksmen)
Steinhardts Tenth (The Browncoats) Gedc0604

The Jacks (Swordsmen)
Steinhardts Tenth (The Browncoats) Gedc0599

There is a lot of greenstuffing to be done but any feedback is welcome as always. Smile

Apologies for the double post but here's a little flavour Razz

The city was in chaos. Captain Fillion had seen battlefields that were more organised and the crammed streets weren’t making his job any easier. It was the dawn of a new millennium and it seemed as if every citizen of Mordheim was taking part in the festivities. A low chanting threaded the air, audible even above the sounds of the city. The captain turned his gaze to the Rock, sitting on its citadel of stone over the river Stir and visible even from his position amongst the nobles houses in the north-west quarter of the city. Maybe not everyone he thought ruefully. The Sisters had locked themselves away weeks before and a constant chanting had permeated the air since then. Only the lord Sigmar himself knew what was happening inside those walls.
His gaze shifted higher and he had to shield his eyes. Despite being nearly midnight, the sky was lit up as bright as a summer day. The vast ball of flame that had been a portent of hope for the citizens of the city now hung in the air immediately above their heads. He could make out individual licks of fire and whirling storms of flame shifting on its surface and it almost seemed to be growing larger by the minute.
Returning his attention to the street, Fillion shouldered his way through yet another group of revellers. His destination was just ahead. Turning a corner, the house came into view. It was large, even by noble standards and a high stone wall surrounded the grounds. Three floors of the finest stone bedecked with gargoyles and other paraphernalia, it was the home of the Turellion family. They were a powerful line and had investments in a dozen businesses throughout the quarter. A disturbing report had come to the guards’ attention and, seeing as almost every watchman was joining in with the cities celebrations, the duty to uphold the law had fallen to him. As he approached the iron gates of the manor, the rest of his men nodded. A quick glance told him just how depleted his forces were. Sergeants Baldwin and Torres were there along with all three Reevus brothers, bows in hand, and novice Maher.
As he approached, Baldwin nodded to him.
“The Jacks are by the front door keeping an eye on things. Just waiting for you cap.”
Fillion nodded, “Well let’s get on with it. I intend to have a drink before the new year begins.”
The squad made their way through the half-open gates. Ornate patterns crossed the bars and a large T was prominent in the design. The nobles of the city brought a sick feeling to his stomach. Since the comets arrival they had been celebrating. Business had halted and many ordinary men were left without jobs. Crime had drastically increased and with a dwindling number of watchmen to keep the peace, the build up to the new year had been hellish. Word had reached the station of chaos worship within the walls and inquiries had led Fillion and his men to the manor of the Turellions. As they approached the front door of the building, the Jacks came into sight. A father and son, they were crouched either side of the entrance with their swords drawn. The guard truly was a family business.
Jacks junior noticed the group approaching and motioned to his father. They stood and nodded at Fillion.
“Report”
“A few house-staff fled a short time ago. We heard crashing and a shout but it’s been quiet since sir.”
Fillion peered into the darkness inside the house and motioned for the Jacks to move forwards. Taking one last look over his shoulder at the city and the comet hovering above it, he moved into the lobby of the building.

The house was in turmoil. Furniture was over-turned and small fires had sprung up where oil lamps had smashed on the ground. The hangings and wall coverings were shredded and a body lay in a pool of blood at the base of the stairs. After the brightness and noise of the city, the house seemed empty. The darkness and silence pushed down on the men like an ominous force. A crash from the left caused Maher to cry out and the squad responded with the efficiency that Fillion was accustomed to.
The Reevus brothers had arrows nocked and ready to fire whilst the Jacks had taken up positions just ahead of them. Maher recovered his composure and fell into line whilst the officers unsheathed their weapons. Fillion slid his pistols from their holsters and swung them around to face an open doorway. A flickering orange glow shone up from a lower room and strange murmurings could be heard from below. The squad moved forwards and exchanged glances.
“Baldwin, take Maher and move down. Reevus, cover our rear and follow ten paces behind. Everyone else, on me.”
Baldwin turned, a frown on his face. “Sir, why’s he got to come with me?” The burly sergeant motioned his head in the direction of Maher. The novice was pale and his arm trembled slightly.
“Because that’s the order sergeant. I’m sure he could learn a few things from you.”
Grumbling, Baldwin crossed the threshold, Maher in tow.

The smell of incense hung in the air. It was thick and sweet and a few of the men gagged at the smell. The murmuring could be heard more clearly now. It seemed to be someone chanting in a language that Fillion didn’t recognise. The stairwell opened up into a chamber that had obviously been built as a wine cellar. Thick support pillars rose to the ceiling and empty casks were rotting along the walls. The source of the light was clear now. A fire burned in the centre of the room. Charred skeletal remains could clearly be seen within its glow and Fillion caught the scent of burning meat for a moment, before the incense overpowered it. Symbols adorned nearly every open space. Covering the floor, walls and ceiling they depicted strange runes. Torres stooped to rub her hand through the red stains and a grim expression crossed her features.
“It’s blood.”
A deep laugh echoed around the room and the watchmen formed a semi-circle to cover all directions. A figure stepped into view behind the fire and deep, rattling breaths filled the air.
“Of course it is. What else would be suitable?”
The figure was hunched and Fillion got the distinct impression that it wasn’t the right shape. It shifted slightly and a thin arm dangled on the edge of its silhouette.
“Lord Turellion. You are under arrest under charges of consorting with dark powers, unlicensed sorcery and murder.” Fillion pointed his sword at the flames and the bodies within. The figure shook with laughter and the noise echoed around the room once more.
“You have no idea what you’re dealing with do you captain?” The tone was sarcastic and patronising, Fillion felt his bile rise.
“If you do not come peaceably then we will have no choice but to take you by force.”
“You can try”
The figure lurched forward and leapt through the fire. The Reevus brothers launched two arrows each before it crashed into their front line. Torres took the brunt of the attack and she was flung backwards, knocking over barrels and Tamm. They landed in a heap on the floor. Fillion unloaded both pistols at the shape and it turned to face him. Lord Turellions face was distorted and stretched. An atrophied arm hung by his left side and a clawed hand ended his right. He sneered and leapt forwards.
Fillion fell backwards and landed with the mutants’ weight on his stomach. The breath was forced from his lungs and he was pinned. The creature leant forwards, his foul breath filling Fillions nostrils.
“This is it, the coming of my dark lord. There is no way to stop him, even now he approaches this place and he will destroy it completely. Any that remain will be twisted to his purpose and I will be but one of his chosen sons.”
The mutant laughed and raised his clawed hand to strike at Fillions exposed neck.
“Hey. Ugly.”
The monster turned its head in time to meet Baldwins greatblade swinging down upon it. With a sickening sound, its head was separated from its body and it slumped to the floor. Baldwin bent down and helped Fillion up.
“Gotta be more careful sir, one of these days I won’t be around to pull you out of the fire.”
Fillion was about the respond when the world turned upside down. The last thing the captain saw before darkness took him was pillars crumbling and pieces of the ceiling crashing to the ground. A tremendous force threw him and he fell into the embrace of unconsciousness.

I've put together some more heroes.
Bear in mind that these are very early stage models, they still need extra details, greenstuffing and some mould-line removal (that I didnt notice before sticking them together. sigh)

First up Sergeant Baldwin (I will be greenstuffing a hat for him Wink )
Steinhardts Tenth (The Browncoats) Gedc0609b

We have house rules allowing heroes to carry whatever weapons they like as long as it's feasible to do so, hence the two maces and the two-handed sword.

My beautiful stand-in for Sergeant Torres until I can find a suitable model. I'm tempted to just paint him wearing make-up...
Steinhardts Tenth (The Browncoats) Gedc0608

The only reason this model exists is so that I have a full warband for playing games. Razz

Captain Fillion.
Steinhardts Tenth (The Browncoats) Gedc0605

And finally, the whole gang together.

As usual, feedback is more than welcome. Smile

Damn! Beaten again...

Excellently chosen theme! I guess you expect games filled with last minute revelations and near defeats turned into victories by a small margin? Oh, and don't forget the banter between the characters!

I like the models so far, with the swordsmen as favourites. A piece of criticism: one of the many great things about the series was that there was many good female characters, but you've got no female minis. I know that the warhammer world is a bit male dominated, but perhaps there is a way to include two or three ladies in the warband?
