COOL,an Aquatic Squig from HELL! The REALLYoutstanding thing about ALL your WORKS of WONDER is the sheer amount of imagination involved. The Lighthouse Keeper & his vicious little friend ARE fine examples of this trait. VERY INSPIRATIONAL STUFF! thumbsup

Right - this fat fella is painted: He just needs to be varnished and based.

One problem though; I've gone off the name "Portly Bill" as it sounds to Hobbity. I want something that sounds Orcy, alludes to a lighthouse (or possibly the practice of wrecking!)

Any suggestions folks? I was thinking about what DeafNala said on the Flame On Scenery thread about having seen lots of red-and-white-striped lighthouses on the east coast of America. Do any of them have (famous?) names that might lend themselves to this rotund pirate? I'd like to keep "Wrecks" as the Dog-Fish-Squig-Hound's name though, so it will have to work with that...

Once upon a time there was a lighthouse, now a mere beacon, where the Long Island Sound meet the warmer waters of the East River. It was & is an area of rip tides, undertows, & dangerous cross currents known as Hell's Gate. SO...how's Hell's Gate Harry & Wrecks the Wonder Whatever sound? pirat

Hehehe - not bad Alan, but a bit long to write on his base! tongue

I think I may have found one! I was directed to this Wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lighthouses_in_the_United_States

Looking through the eastern states I found (under New York state):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throgs_Neck_Light

"Throg" seemed just too Orcy to pass!

AAAAARRRGH! I LOVE your minis. Beyond being FANTASTICALLY IMAGINATIVE conversions sporting GREAT paint jobs, I've yet to look at them without smiling, having a good laugh, or having a Sea Shanty run through my mind [the Eddy Stone Light in this case]. Some minis inspire awe; yours spread happiness. VERY WELL DONE!

Arrrr!

The abyssal squig handler is pure genious!!

Overall, you have an extreme characterful band, with lots and lots of bits. You can enjoy viewing your minis again and again, and discover new details each time. Congratulations on a well done job!

Since these are now on their way by post:

From here:
http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=70

I've been inspired to make a few more Pirate Orcs (not that it takes much normally!)

Sorry this ones blurry - I'll try again tomorrow!
Edit: Sorted!

This guy has been knocking around for ages - he was from my Orc army pre-pirate take over. I pulled off his head and added a new one (from the 40k Nobz frame) and Greenstuffed a bandanna on him.

I also recently won a Playmobil rowing boat on eBay. I've added a deck and re-painted it:

You can NEVER have TOO MANY Toy Soldiers! NICE ADDITIONS to the crew; the Lad in the Watch Cap with the beard is my personal favorite. The new heads look like they'll compliment your SPLENDID WORK!

COOL JOLLY BOAT! thumbsup

Wicked! But I'm amazed the squig/fish/dog isn't called Rex, I s'pose it's not seaworthy enough.
