 Eshin Fighting Claws + Tail Fighting

The Fighting Claws exclude the use any other weapons, but would that negate Tail Fighting? The Fighting Claws exceptions to changing weapons would seem to stem from their being strapped or otherwise fixed to their hands, thus not being able to switch weapons easily. Tail Fighting does not use the hands, so therefore you would think they'd still be allowed to use the tail weapon.

What do you think?

And is there an official ruling on this?

I don't know about an official ruling, but in my circle we have always played that fighing claws only concerns what you have in your hands and you may use tailfighting as normal.

Lord O is correct. Fighting claws are on the paws of the Skaven Warrior and not allowing him to change to other weapons. And since the 2 Close Combat weapon allowance negates the ability to have another CC weapon, expect your “free” dagger that every weapon using warrior would always have. That dagger, can be used on the tail for the Tail Fighting Skill. Some say the tail can use a Dagger or Shield, But I never seen a model with “Tail Shield” ever fielded. We use the Optional Crit. Rules also. One of those options has Warrior’s Weapon is knocked out of his hand. Then the Warrior could pull his dagger and fight with that backup weapon.

Side note: We even use the Free Dagger as an additional weapon for Multi-Armed Mutants.

Tailfighting can only be used to carry a shield by Nightrunners and promoted TLGT Verminkin because only these heroes use the Henchman equipment list and only the Henchman equipment list has shields on it.

Umm, wouldn't the ability to have an extra limb also include the ability to use an extra weapon too? We've played it that the model could have three weapons if desired. Otherwise these abilities don't seem to have much use (Tail fighting and Extra Limb). In other words, if you wanted to give your Skaven three swords (dual wield, plus one on tail) and use Expert Swordsmen skill with them, you could.

Rulebook for tail fighting:
"The Skaven may wield a shield, knife or a sword with its tail. The model gains an extra attack with the appropriate weapon or a +1 bonus to its armour save."

We allow those 3 items regardless of fighting claws.
