| Ok guys, here is my one and only warband, the cream of Reikland, the heroes of the Empire, the world famous mercenaries: Captain Tortiou's Reiklanders! (the pictures were taken aboard a Playmobil pirate ship, because I didn't have any background for my photos... sorry for the inconvenience and for the crap scenery!) First of all, Captain Tortiou himself (1 sword, 1 hammer, 1 duelling pistol and 1 bow). This is a model from the Rackham collection, he simply looks like the captain each warband would like to have. Captain Tortiou and his warriors: 1 champion with two swords, 1 champion with a morning star, 2 swordsmen and 2 youngbloods: 4 archers (long bow + hammer) and 1 crossbowman: And now the whole warband: One model is missing: my elven ranger (hired sword), a beautiful elven archer whose painting is not finished... I'll edit this post when I'm done with her. | |

| Cool warband Tortiou!
Just one question: With how many warriors did you start?

| Hem... that's a good question. I think I had 9 or 10 members or something like that. I originally started my warband with 8 fully-equipped mercenaries (I bought them some light armours, some helmets, some shields...) but Tom and I quickly learned that it's better to have more ill-equipped warriors than less well-equipped ones. So I re-started my warband with more warriors (9 or 10) but less equipment (light armour is expensive crap anyway). And this is the result! | |

| Oh... so you do respect the appearance of the model? If your model is wearing armour, you buy him some armour? I'm not that maniac, lol ! Many of my models look like they are wearing light armour (leather armour) but I don't care, it's just too expensive! And for two games, one of my champions was carrying a shield with which he wasn't equipped... I waited two games before buying him one | |

| I only bought it because he's wearing full plates... full plates which provide a 6+ save... But my Greatsword wears chainmail and I didn't give him any armour. | |

| Yaaaaaaar! Tortiou, I can't believe you pulled that playmobil ship-thing off... and worse yet, THEY SEEM TO LIKE IT! Anyway, very good photos as usual my dear Tortiou. @Hellfoot: Hem, hem, hem... EXCUSE ME? "favourite models on Tom's blog"? I think I'll ignore that remark (just kidding) @ Erkwin & Tortiou: YES we respect the appearance of the models. The WYSIWYG-rule (What You See Is What You Get rule) is paramount to me. On my gaming table, if a model obviously wears armour, you HAVE to buy it in-game or find a way to convert it. If a model carries a spear and you want two hand-weapons, same thing applies. Yet I usually allow 1-2 models maximum to not respect the WYSIWYG-rule. For example if they are still under construction or because the equipment is not 100% representative - such as in Tortiou's leather armour case. But that's as far as it gets. I find that it is just extremely annoying and tedious if you don't know what the ennemy's equipement is and have to memorize an entire opposing warband. Why buy models then? Why bother painting and converting them if you could just as well dig out those old action figures and pretend they are orcs? | |

| "They seem to like it" ?? Come on Tom, this playmobil pirate ship is AWESOME ! Of course they like it! Admit it, it's a lot more beautiful than you first anticipated, am I wrong? About the "if you could just as well dig out those old action figures and pretend they are orcs?"... are you referring to the GorkaMorka game where my space marines represented Orcs?? (je saisis tes allusions mesquines, moi, meussieu !!) | |

| Errr...actually I was honestly not referring to Gorkamorka. Nope. Sorry. You read too much between the lines Tu as mal saisi mon cher Nicou, car ce n'etait ni une allusion, ni mesquin. Et puis, elle était marrante notre partie de Gorkamorka, non? *fire in the hoooole!* Oh and yes, I admit, the playmobil ship is not THAT bad... | |

I love the Rackham Captain, very cool mini, & very well painted. The vibrant blue looks excellent. WELL DONE& stuff like that! Have you named the turtle? He's obviously the brains of the outfit .
