| Hey people. Just managed to take a terrible terrible pic before the batteries on my camera died so I didn't get a chance to light it up properly and I had to take the photo on my work desk! But here it is.. Finally finished in all its glory.. Hardly any of the red highlights showed out because I had to use the flash.. Images don't seem to want to load for me so here's the link: https://2img.net/h/i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/organboy/p1010001.jpg?t%201198107713I had a lot of fun building this warband; and playing with them motivated me to paint them. I tried to give the warband a little bit of individuality with a few minor conversions. Obviously the heroes were the most enjoyable to paint because they're such cool models. I'll try and take some closer shots with a macro lens and no flash some time soon. The bases are from back2base-ix as well.. Just thought i'd mention that. But again, with the low quality of image you can't really see the detail that is there. Any comments/criticisms welcome! Cheers ~ Steve [EDIT]: Fixed your pic. You have to take the BB code for the image. Not the "direct link". --Admin Tom | |

| Hey man! They look great. Exactly how an Undead Warband should look like.... Dead, yet vibrantly painted =) Good Job. That is a very unique way to base your models. What did you use to do it? I can't wait for the close ups =) | |

| The bases are paved 20mmx20mm resin bases from back2base-ix (i don't know if I can post a link to their site here or not - am I allowed?). I just drybrushed the stones grey over black and painted, inked and drybrushed the dirt inbetween; then stuck clumps of static grass here and there which I also drybrushed. Very easy way to base them... My Sisters of Sigmar are on bases from the same group, but in a cobblestone pattern which should be even easier to paint.
Close ups might be a week or so away but hang in there. The close ups mightn't be as good as some might expect. This warband looks its best from 3 feet.
I'm trying to figure out a way to convert a third Dreg for my warband. Tom's conversion is fantastic but that's way too advanced for me to attempt.

| Great Job Organboy! Your warband looks amazing! I'd love to see close ups too. We chose the same colour scheme you and I The classic red/black. And YES, your are allowed (in fact, you SHOULD) post a link to back2base-ix 's website Cheers! _________________ | |

| Yeah, warband definately looks great! Close-ups would be even better! Thank god, this is not an official GW forum so links to all companies are welcomed. After all, this forum is meant for the fans - not for the company to make it seem like they supported their games. I found the awesome MICROCONSTRUCT shop through this forum and now regularly order there. | |

| Thanks for all the replies and for fixing up my pic. The site I purchased the bases from is http://www.back2base-ix.com. There's about 6 or 7 (or more) different types of bases available (in plenty of sizes) and from what I know, he ships worldwide. @Yorik: I haven't actually painted any eyes on my warband. All of them have black eye sockets so they look more sunken and generally more evil. Close ups coming soon. Cheers ~ Steve | |

| Organ Boy,
I have another question for you: It looks to me like you put a base on top of a base...? Was it possible to just use the top section of base by itself?

| @Ashton: The Back2base-ix bases come one piece. I figure they're made to look like the detail is put on top of a GW base when really the whole thing is a B2B base. The 'top base' as you put it; is just the detail and the 'bottom base' is so it's game-sized. I guess they're made like that so they're playable but can still have the detail of the bases overflowing off the edges. So you could probably use just the top half of the bases if you wanted to sand down the bottom half with some sand paper (it wouldn't take much time at all with a sandbelt - just don't breathe in the fumes!)

| Hey Steve,
Thanks. Yea. I checked out their site, and that is very odd. That is probably the thickest "base decoration" i've ever seen. They have some with "wooden planks" HA! Some planks are 150% the size of the base! I think it's funny cause it ends up with your warband being much taller.
Could you image playing with a skaven warband that had these tall bases and playing against an orc warband with abnormally thin bases... The Skaven would probably be taller than the Orcs! hahah

| I think Back2Base-ix offers a base painting service. I think it may say so on the site. I haven't checked it out for ages.
@Ashton: Yeah, they do stand a little tall. However, all of the players in my Mordheim group use them so all of the models end up in proportion.

| Those look really nice, very nice warband mate! As for a third Dreg, how about converting one from plastics? A torso from the skaven or night goblins, the rest of the parts from the zombies, it'd fit alongside the metals you have rather well | |

| Excellent looking war band. The traditional black & red color really does fit the living impaired theme. If left to my own devices, I might have gone orange & black for a Halloweeny effect, but then again I'm a rather strange old guy. The new plastics are excellent [I'm doing a Vampire army with Stirlander/Templars of Morr opponents for one of my pigeons]. The Crypt Ghouls & the Dire Wolves in particular really rock. Of course, it may be a trifle late for your war band. You'd have to hairy up the ghouls, if they are to match the new stufff, & your ghouls are just too nice to mess around with at this stage. | |

Deaf, you are risking a disciplinary ban if you don't get that camera working and show us your pics! It's like torture reading about your creations and not seeing them! *just kidding about the ban. You know that, right?* _________________

| EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I missed the only kidding part; it was almost the BIG ONE. Photos may soon be coming. My friend & patron, Justin " Dr. J." Sipla, has graciously offered to do some cool photos of the minis, living & mostly dead, I'm doing for him [read he cracked under the flood of whining & guilt tripping]. So I should be able to post some links to the little horrors [plus he'll have some cool battle reports]. For my own Mordheimish stuff, he can snap some quick photos of them when he makes one of his periodic visits. To be on the safe side the whining will continue. | |
