So some of you had asked me about a model I had sitting on my workspace picture.

This is actually a kit that I got from Michaels (A local craft store) I picked up this guy for something like $5 (on sale). The Name on the kit is Creatology (Wooden Puzzle) Military Sailing Ship.

Here is a link to it on Amazon ..for picture reference (over priced here..just look for it on sale at your local craft store) Creatology Military Sailing Ship I have never seen it for more than $10 normally.

I orginally got this with the idea of converting it up for Mordheim and either stick it into a dock section as a piece of scenery or maybe some half sunken ship. The idea also occured to me to maybe use it as a rough template for creating my own waterline ships, and if nothing else maybe help me figure out rigging when I get around to it on my own ship.

After having built it..

It has a fairly nice shape to it, but it is on the smaller side more like a rive barge than a galleon (Which I suppose fits Mordheim better). It seems as if it wouldn't take too much work to convert it up. The mast sections would need to be replaced with something different as the ones provided are just flat pieces of wood. The crows nests as a result would also need to be replaced.

The railings on the side dont really seem to be tall enough, but that could also be fixed fairly easy. One advantage is that all the "details" are just burned onto the wood, so if you did paint it up they would all be covered without any problems.

I haven't put any time into it recently, but maybe I will work on converting and see how it plays out.

The dimensions of the deck once built are about 12" long by 3" wide. I can fit 3 figures on 20mm bases across the deck without any problem.

Here are some shots for scale.

Could be a fast pirate ship. Harrassing the victim and slowing it down untill the big one gets there....

I like the idea of river pirates, put a large single mast on ot like a sloop or two smaller ones would help with the size making it more fitting.

Now that's really cool for river or coastal pirates! I think the size looks excellent if you do some minor conversions on it. I might just get one for my pirate crew... Very Happy (if I can find one with reasonable shipping rates...)
