Myntokk finally paints something (LotR) !

Hey guys,

Well after a long hiatus I finally took brush to mini again. I think I'm a tad rusty, but overall I'm pretty pleased with the result!

I painted up 4 elves from the Lord of the Rings game, most of them from the White Council boxed set:



From left to right, they are:

Haldir ("The dwarf breathes so loud, we could have shot him in the dark"), Glorfindel, Galadriel, and Cirdan.

p.s. sorry for poor shots, without flash they were too dull and with they're a bit washed out. Obviously, I need a better light source for photographing minis!

I think they look good. If you're rusty now, then the next minis ought to be fantastic. I really like the LOTR minis, and the elves are no exception. Will there be more?

VERY NICE! I LOVE Galadriel...my favorite character in the books, movie, & now the mini. The Lads & Lady painted up TERRIFIC...just a little work on the bases & you've REALLY got something cool. VERY WELL DONE!

I agree with DeafNala. All great models but Galadriel really stand out (much thanks to your amazing job on the highlighting! )

Thanks for the kind words, guys! I know, their bases. I still haven't settled on exactly how I want to base my LotR minis, but I think I may keep the relatively simple with just some sand or pebbles and flock/static grass. I want to base ALL of the LotR minis the same, rather than by faction, so they can be mixed around more seemlessly. I'll definitely post some completed shots when I settle on something.

In the meantime, I've got two more elves and some baddies in the pipe, so keep an eye out. I'll probably have something up in the next few days.

On the left we have Khamul, one of the Nazgul, and on the right is a Mordor Uruk-hai captain converted from an Isengard Uruk-hai captain.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure (Thranduil was actually painted about 3 years ago, I just never go 'round to photographing him) that the gold was fairly straightforward - just a basecoat of Shining Gold with the individual scales then picked out in Burnished Gold. I may have done one further highlight of a mix of Burnished Gold and Mithril Silver on the very tips of the scales, I'm not 100% certain though.

All of those are GW paints, which I still use against my better judgement, mostly because I still have all of them from all those years ago. They work just fine, but seem quite expensive compared with some other companies.
