The Northern Raiders

This is basically a project I am starting Which is a long term warband project not for the current campaign I am in. I always wanted to create a norse warband but I also wanted to include younbloods, and honestly there isn't much you can't do with using the initial 3 mercenary warbands as 'counts as' templates to build on.

The leader of the warband is a Norsican tribe leader who follows the guidance of his blind seer, the white witch. She has lead him to both a fallen chaos warrior who's suit of armor he took as proof of his divine right to rule, as well as leading him to a lower middenheim noble who wanted to hire warriors for a venture to mordheim to increase his family's standing, even though they had fallen on hard times. He had little to offer them save for a stake in the rewards, shared as well as one of his daughters hands in marriage to which the jarl readily agreed after meeting the young woman.

Its defiantly a long term project but wanted to keep a running log of the progress.

Here is the leader, who was a fun but pain in the arse conversion from one of the khorne blood warriors from the age of sigmar starter box.


As well as two wolves needed, the one ghost wolf is the wolf form of the Wolf Priest of Ulric ("white witch") if she gets that spell, and the other is her wolf companion.


As well as the wip of the noblelady champion, armed with greatsword, and crossbow carried by a porter, even in the snow (shes kind of a bitch)




The model is from kingdom death, also have the speaker coming in the mail later this week.

Beautiful work, the Chaos Warrior is great, and the noblewoman is very well-done, if slightly differently proportioned than usual GW-models.

You have some BEAUTIFULLY painted pieces in your Grand Project; posting photos of them should get you enough motivating responses to see you over the gaps in enthusiasm nicely. The Kingdom Death Girl is a really nice piece...G.W. has a very limited idea about what a female looks like with the exception of the Fitzpatrick pieces. VERY WELL DONE!  

Closeup of the 'middenheim bitch' im not happy with the skin but ill work on that.

She looks SPLENDID...not being satisfied is one of those things I can identify with. GREAT WORK!  

Sorry for the lack of progress, just placed an order for about 150$ worth of models to add to this and other projects, actually now I'll have all the models to finish this (just takes delivery time from royal air mail to the us. ._. so much time.

In the meantime I finished compiling a list for the starting 500g for the warband.

That brings me to exactly 500g with the familiar 9 models I'm used to (Wolf companion counts as a henchmen), and means I will be able to finish this without needing to order the multi part viking kit to start, I am getting it soon, but that wont be needed until after the first game or two when I start hiring more warriors with axe and shield to form a viking style shield wall.

One of the advantages of a skirmish level game is, with the few miniatures needed, you can savor the creative experience...I love that excuse.  

First realized I made a mistake, shields are 5g not 10g, so have more gold to spend lol.

I would imagine that the Holy Babe has all sorts of potential converts. Someday when my ship comes in I'll have to get a couple of those minis...actually my ship did come in; it was during the dock strikes. WONDERFUL LOOKING STUFF!  

She looks a little tall though, does she match well with the rest? Size-wise I mean?

She is a bit taller but I figure I would try it to see how it is, unfortunatly they are 32mm scale not 28mm but being 'norse' ish I may be able to get away with it when it all comes together, plus the youngbloods will look that much smaller. In the end the heroes of this warband are going to draw much more focus

Yeah, it's looking good though, so there's no need to worry, and if the Warband is scaled ok amongst themselves, then there's really no issue.

Finally! Ordered back in october! Its finally here, a big order from hasslefree that contained a good portion of my norse warband as well as my upcoming Jeanne of Arc themed witchhunters... would have been nice if you know.... sisters of sigmar could use swords but I guess I have to make due with what I have.
