Well, as it was said in this thread, we love RPG, and talk about the ones which influenced our childhood Razz

I began RPG on my Megadrive (or Genesis) with the one called "Landstalker". What a perfection ! Perhaps the better adventure/scenario I've seen on this "console" (I don't know if it's the same word in english, sorry Embarassed ). I also played "Legend of Thor", "Light Crusader", "Shining force", "Phantasy Star", etc... And they're not as "has been" as we can think they are, if you can play Shining Force 2 now, I'm quite sure you'll pass a great moment Smile

The first RPG I played on my PC is, as a lot of us I think, "Baldur's Gate". A revolutionnary software by Black Isle, I spend perhaps one entire year of my life to play the BG's series (with Icewind Dale 1 & 2, BG 1 & 2, Neverwinter Nights and Planescape Torment). In my opinion, Planescape torment is the best, the main character and the story can change a lot ! All depends on what you choose (humm... it's not totally the truth Rolling Eyes ) !!!

I also played Monkey island series, Fallout series (yeah, they're fun to play Tom, I love it too, but I've never succeded to finish the second Sad ), Elder Scroll series (but I don't like it so much) and Diablo series (I know, it's not a real RPG).

I never owned a console.

But the games that left a mark upon my map were:

- Diablo (finished it 3 times. Once with the Warrior and twice with "Wydrin Hellfire" the mage... Very Happy That's the name I gave him. I remember that cos he was the only character that kicked Diablo's ass in 5 lightning bursts). I L-O-V-E-D this game when I was lilttle.

- Starcraft

- Duke Nukem 3D (my first shooter!)

- Fallout (as mentioned before)

- Adventures like: Space Quest, Kings Quest VII, Discworld, Hand of Fate 2, Monkey Island.

I've never played Discworld, is it still a very good game ? Or too old-fashion to be playable actually ? Razz

I don't even think Monkey Island 1 and 2 are too old-fashioned to be playable. They are classics! Discworld looks a lot more modern (something between Simon the Sorcerer 2 and Monkey 3 I believe). It all depends on how demanding you are. If gameplay and fun are what is relevant to you then Monkey, Discworld and all the other classics should always be playable.

Agree with Cianty.

Obviously Discworld is not using DirectX10 render/shader techniques!

But we are talking about "retro" games here. And it has a very good gameplay for such an old game.

"Unhand that maiden, Snidely Whiplash, you coward, bully, cad, & thief."

I didn't get into R.P.Gs., technically, until I was in my twenties &, again technically, no longer in my childhood. RPGS of the video variety were always beyond my abilities, such as they are, to master, but I swashed my buckle through countless AD&D campaigns.

Since I've never truly left childhood AND since I role played EVERY game I've ever played, even when inappropriate/strange to do so, I guess with moi it's an ongoing thing. It is just so cool to be that person you'd like to be, and do all those things you wish you were capable of but are denied by reality.
