This always gets me, the price of throwing knives/stars is 15 gold crowns ... the same as a long bow ... for something that has a range of 6".

The benefits of no range/movement penalties and users strength doesn't seem to justify the cost ... especially when later releases of Lizardmen, Amazon and other warbands had a Javelin with 8" range, same benefits but for only 5 gold crowns.

The knife fighter rule can easily make it good, especially on a s4 character... if you get in close, 3 attacks with s4 aint bad Add a little poison so it's s5 and it's deadly!!

Mmmm, Would make for a rather un-fluffy but very cool vampire: Get him a high BS and Strength of 5 or 6 + the knife fighter skill (3 shots) + eagle eyes (12" range) + his fast movement = 3 shots at S5 or S6 at 12" range = rather lethal

Nope, you can only shoot when you've moved normally, not run

yes the price is too high, and only worth it if you have S4 and the skill

Vampires can't have shooting skills though.

I think the price is right. First off, the price. It might be a little expensive... at first! Just like with heavy armour, which I NEVER buy for any warband members at creation, as it is a luxury I will buy when I can afford it. The same goes for all expensive items (two handed weapons, armours, misc items etc). It sounds to me that the javelin is the one with wrong price.

Anyway, I allways find that knife fighters tend to be aongst the most feared ones, especially if they are Skaven as well.

I'd go with 5gc.

All in all it could seem pretty cheap, but in the end throwing knives are only good if the warrior gets those mentioned fine advantages... and those advantages are paid for with more gold or experience.
Javelins could go for 5gc also, longer range but can't get knife fighter and it all depends on what weapons the warband has access to...

I'd go between 8 to 10gc for both Throwing Knives and Javelins myself.

but still, after a game or two, dont you think you would buy them regardless as you probably can afford them, if you havent lost too much during those games, that is???

I've done it with a skaven - don't remember if black skavens can have shooting skills? If not it was a night runner with strength advance.. And it was worth it!
(mostly because of the model haha, but not bad in game either)
