PostSubject: Moving Minis   Moving Minis Icon_minitimeTue 10 Nov 2009 - 10:07

Does anybody know of good ways to transport minis? It dawned on me recently that I'm putting all this work into tiny, fragile plastic figures and I want to keep them safe from dust and travel mishaps.

Are there affordable alternatives to GWS figure cases? How do you guys transport or store your minis?

thanks!

There are LOTS of less expensive carrying cases available. These from the War Store are the LEAST expensive: http://www.thewarstore.com/EconoBoxFigureStorage.html
AND the foam inserts are superior to GW's in that you can customize the slot for the mini AND the mini can be fitted to stand up rather than lying down, as is the case with the type case GW & other Folks make...this makes slippage & damage less likely. Moving Minis 544694

Well what i use are magnets... and a metal box. Just put a magnet in the base and it can stand in the box.

It's a cheap way to keep them save!

Not sure if you can get them anymore, but I own about 5 pistol carrying cases (complete with eagle-soaring-over-a-mountain-lake relief carved onto the front!) that I picked up at Walmart, for about $5 at the time. It consists of 2 layers of "egg-crate" foam and one solid block of foam. It looks pretty ridiculous, and I'm sure my mom was mortified at what the store employees thought at the time (why is this woman buying her teenage son 5 pistol cases?!).

It's not necessarily perfect for mini transportation, especially large figures, but most rank-n-file troops and man-sized models can be snuggly fit in, and the depressions leave a lot of room for arms and weapons sticking off to the side.

Hmm i have a huge travel suitcase, can't see the company on it, but i'll try to find out.. I love it and i'm gonna get one more!! It's pretty big, looks like a classic sniper transport case - but it fits about 80-100 regular infantry models Smile
