They changed a few things, because their range grew to wide for the bit-order-service.

It was announced three or four months ago.
I personelly think that all bits were highly overpriced anyway, put still this is quite hard for people who converted a lot and used special bits which were only available via mailorder.

They have been talking about this for a while now!

A bitz ordering service will return in a month or two (or three....) but in a different form. They are re-making the molds for the most popular components and selling them as "useful" packs, rather than individual components.

The way the old system worked they would often have to cast up twenty bitz that hadn't been ordered just to cast a single bit that had. The rest would have to be melted down again! This caused a huge amount of wasted energy and time (GW are actually a very environmentally concious company and recycle everything, they also are always looking for ways to cut their carbon footprint).

The new system won't be perfect but it will mean cheaper components sold in useful packs (compared to the cost of buying a whole model at single component prices anyway).

Have patience guys - they are actually trying to sort this out ASAP! Surprised

They will make new molds with (for example) a whole bunch of Skaven bits on one metal sprue. They will go through all the ranges like this (eventualy - it's just seven staff doing it apparently!) so nearly everything will be available, but mixed in amongst these packs.

When you order Skaven bitz you'll have a choice of a few sprues or a complete model, rather than the whole range of components.

We can still get a majority of the bitz here in the US & Canada; we've a stockpile, apparently. But think of it this way;

There were bitz in the 2006-07 catalogue that had been ordered three times over the past five years... WORLDWIDE!

It takes money to catalogue, organize, sort, pick & ship these things. It only make sense that GW is going to streamline the process.

On the downside, one of the reasons I was willing to pay higher-than-average prices for GW's stuff was because they provided the bitz service. Now that it's been reduced, I don't know that they'll have the same success in the future (but I'm STILL buying that damned Vampire Counts Spearhead, if only because I get my Trade discount!)

Maybe, maybe not. But they will have reduced their costs. :cherry:

I looked yesterday trying to find some Mordheim bits and could not locate them.

Has anyone found them?

I need Marianne's sword(s) and some windows and doors.

Have some of you checked on the prices on these bits-packs?
Jesus christ, the single parts have already been totaly overpriced but these packets.
12,50 € for a Pair of Wings? 20 US-Bucks for 2 Sabretusks?

One of the killers is propably this one, 10 bucks for a couple of buckets:
http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=306126&orignav=304718&ParentID=260193&GameNav=304717

I wasn't a fan of the old way they dealt with the bitz and i´m quite sure i´m not becoming one of the new.

Actually I don't think the barrel pack is "overpriced" (talking GW terms). I bought all of these parts before when they were available separately and I'm fairly sure they weren't cheaper altogether. So these seem fine with. Any more packs available already?

EDIT: I just saw there are few other packs available, mostly creature models. Nothing exciting yet it seems..

10 $ is fuckin' overpriced O_O even for GW standards. BTW I've seen the wings of greater demons for 8 euros and other things that are OK.

Some pieces will be bought as before, others will be left alone in stacks, that will grow bigger and bigger and then crush to the ground, destorying every gW factory contemporarily.

Mmm, ignore the last period XD

Unfortunately I don't have the old price list for the bits from the "Buckets and Barrels" pack but it consists of 10(!!!) different pieces. You can imagine how much this would be in total when buying them altogether - even with a minimum price for each item. So the pack may be overpriced but it's not any more expensive than the bits were before and I do doubt that these packages will be above GW's usual price standards. If they do make great packs with lots of useful bits this may not turn out to be as bad as it seemed. Of course it's worse than before since getting four barrells (like me) will now require four packs so that sucks a lot.
