A modell getting this Chaos mutation can not wear a weapon in this hand but gets +1 Attack in hand to hand combat with +1 Strenght.
As a result a 2 questions came into my minds Chaos Mutation - Great Claw Icon_wink

1)
If the modell experience and increased it´s basic attacks to 3 ....am I allowed to do the 3 attacks with the "Great Claw" and benefit from the +1 strength bonus and do 1 attack with the other hand wealding a weapon ?

2)
A modell with this mutation can not wear double handed weapons, right ?

Regards
Claus

1 - you can divide the 3 attacks as you please (claw or weapon) but the bonus attack can only be made with the claw.

2 - you cannot attack with double handed weapons (unless he grows an extra regular hand)

Isn't it basically the same as any other one-handed weapon; you can divide your attacks however you want, as long as you make at least one attack with each weapon that you're actively wielding?

So in other words, if the model had 3 attacks, a sword, and a great claw, he could make 3 attacks with the great claw and one with the sword.

Just like if he had 3 attacks, a sword, and an axe - he could make 3 attacks with the sword and 1 with the axe, but he couldn't make all 4 attacks with the sword.

I may be far off here, but my interpretation is that you only recieve the Claw bonus ONCE. It´s one attack with +1str. The rest of the models attacks are made with whatever other weapon the model has. I believe this particular mutation would be overpowered otherwise.

But then again, a morning star or halberd confers their str bonus to all a models attacks so i'm a bit confused here I must admit.

Au Contraire!

A Morningstar or Halberd only costs 15 gc, and either requires both hands or only confers the +1 strength bonus for the first round of combat. The Great Claw, on the other hand, gives +1 attack and +1 strength but costs 50 gc!

If you were to apply the +1 strength across the board (other than for off-hand attacks), then that pretty much breaks even with the values in the rulebook, where strength and attacks are valued at 25 gc each for the first increase, 35 gc for each additional increase. If you're weilding a standard weapon in your other hand then you're kind of robbed of your attack bonus too, since you paid so much gold for it and you would normally get +1 attack for dual-weilding anyways.

In the end, however, I think the wording in the rulebook supports your conclusion, stating that a Great Claw gives the warrior "an extra attack in hand-to-hand combat with a +1 Strength bonus." I personally consider it to be horribly overpriced if you only grant the bonus to the one extra attack though, and therefore we treat the Great Claw to be like any other one-handed weapon.

That's the way we play it too.
