Grootka
Kaptain Grootka sat at his favorite table (specially placed for him by the staff of the Blow Hole). From his chair on the Blow Hole's for'castle, Grootka could look out over the whole of Sartosa-town's harbor. He loved the view. (He also loved throwing lubbers over the rail into the street below, which was why he usually had the deck to himself. Waiters would lug a keg or two up here and leave him be. Leet.)

War. Red, wonderful war was coming to the Tilean Sea. The Remasans and the Miraglians and the Pirate King of Sartosa Isle all vied for the control of the sea. Mercenaries, pirates, adventurers and assassins from all over the world were flocking to the area. The Warbosses of the Bad Lands were said to be building hulks along the coast or just stealing ships from fools who stopped to take on water. But Grootka was already here, with a ship, a crew and a cunnin' plan. Oh, it was glorious! (Now if only some lubber would get a craving to 'take the air'. Hur!)

The Campaign
The Venerable Mordheim Campaign will be returning to fair Sartosa to enjoy mayhem and slaughter along the Pirate Current and the Skull Sands. The background of the campaign may be found here--

http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=31766.0

When we'll start is kind of dependent on the online campaign itself (they are having some difficulties getting their campaign site up and running).

I'm going to let the Arabs sit for a bit and return to Orc Pirates.
Playtable is threatening to get serious about the Dark Elves.
Chadwicc is exploring Stirwood Outlaws.
Smalls will call his models Tileans or Pirates depending on his mood.
The rest are being coy for the moment.

The Treachery & Greed online campaign site is up and running.
http://treacheryandgreed.com/

"Mercenaries are disunited, thirsty for power, undisciplined, and disloyal; they are brave among their friends and cowards before the enemy; they have no fear of god, they do not keep faith with their fellow men; they avoid defeat just so long as they avoid battle; in peacetime you are despoiled by them, and in wartime by the enemy.”

The year is 2203, and the various warring states that make up Sigmar’s Glorious Empire have settled into an exhausted peace. But thousands of mercenaries still fill the land, and everywhere there is pillage and death.

With the collapse of the Marienburg Alliance, the Tilean states have again turned upon each other. Proud Remas, the remnant of an ancient empire, faces the expanding naval power of Miragliano. In Sartosa, the pirate prince gathers his war fleet. These three greater powers dominate their neighbors and seek each other’s destruction.

All three hire vast armies of mercenaries, little realising the horrors they will unleash on their own people. And all the while, greenskins raise their ragged banners and build ramshackle ships.

Week I—Skirmishes in Sartosa, Ossumunte and Luccini*
[*This week any fights at a Tilean Port Town happen in Luccini...]

"Skirmish”
Uncertain memories concerning a scrap with Stirwood Outlaws in a Sartosan street. It was a rare nice day in Sartosa as I recall...

Grootka leaned his head against Nameless’ broad back and practiced counting.
"Won. Too. Tree. More. Lots..."
Gits says dat good fer da anger. The alley was blocked and there was nothing else to do. No goblins to kick, Cookie didn’t look like he’d take a cuff on the noggin without a fight. Cookie got that Mate Gork's glowy green club in his mitt, too. Nameless wouldn’t feel whatever he did. Yup. Counting make Grootka real mad. Grootka gripped the axe in his right mitt tighter. Maybe a couple of chops would get Nameless to move…
The humies couldn’t hit them at this range. That was something. [Sound of arrow hitting flesh. Grunt of pain.] Snot piss. Bastids had got the range. Nameless drooled some more. Grootka thought about seeing if it was Nameless they hit, but he’d have to get around the stoopid troll to look. Grootka glared at Cookie. Cookie glared right back.
“Yuz da Boss, yuz. Nameless yer zoggin troll. Ye juss git da stoopid lubber ta move. Any time iz good. Ize got all zoggin day, meez!”
Suddenly Nameless lurched forward. Grootka staggered a bit. Arrow missed him. Slo Bil yelped and rolled around in the street a bit. ‘Eadtaker was laying motionless a street over. Looked right peak’ed. Nasty arrow sticking out of him.
Nameless see some humie hiding in a boneyard. Nameless run in there. Grootka follow to keep him focused, like. Bastids hide some more. Grootka pull arrow out of his shoulder. Glare at Nameless. Nameless lookin for dem humie. Finds one but can’t ketch it.
Bil’s down again. Don’t look good. Grootka look around at all the humie gits on the rooftops aiming down at him. Nope, not good. Grootka give this one up.

Post battle:
No outlaws were even injured. Kept hiding from Nameless. Gits! The Outlaws make money, buy stuff and hire more shooty gits. Including a Tilean Marksman...
Orcs—find little money. But everybody get better. Woot! Buy some stuff, hire another boy.

More to follow. Playtable didn't record this fight but he took a few photos...

"X Marks the Spot"
More reminiscence by Von Kurst

Grootka and the ladz headed inland. Grootka had this old map showing were some git hid his plunder. Fool hid it in Ossomunte, but what you gonna do? "Teef iz teef" dey says.

So the crew hoofs it to Ossomunte. Find this rundown bunch of humie huts and another boneyard. Looks a lot like Sartosa only less kept up, Just like the map, too.

Grootka wants to get right to it so the ladz spread out and head toward the rising sun. Except that its cloudy and there's this lighting storm.
Panzy Sea Patrol is in town, too.
Got all the lubbers scared. AND there are these humie press gangers out rounding
up gitz. Crowded place to search for treasure. Cookie no like, him.

Elf and press gang get into scrap. Can't agree on who gets prisoners, er swabs. Elf duff them press gangers up. But one boss elf, he go down. Hur!
Treachery & Greed 08122010city005

Elfs ambush the pressgangers (who are in the graveyard out of sight).

The ladz sneak up on the fight between the Law and the gangers. Good joke let them bastids fight! Hur!
ZAP!!! Grootka get struck by lightning! Knocks him right out of the fight. ZAP! (Takes Nameless out as well even though Nameless still stands around and does nothing just as if Grootka was still ordering him around...)

The ladz are a bit nervous now. The treasure isn't where they thought it was. Stoopid elfs might get it. ZAP! ZOT! CRACKLE! Yo'and gets fried by lightning! Cookie Whatsis say "Zog diss!" Orcs beat feet out of there.

Post Game
Elf get lotsa good stuff. Punk Elf Ranger join his ol' buddies for free. Good this, good that. Elfs! Orc--Grootka hates elfs. Yo'and laid up for a game. Cookie and 'Eadtaker only find one bit of treasure. Hire another boy. Buy a bow.

Week 1
Dark Elves vs Stirwood Bandits
Press Gang, daylight, crowded, town guards (that never showed up), lots-o-drunks, with some that look like Empire swordsmen.

The Dark Elves start with their 2 Shades with repeater crossbows on the building surrounded by their fellows.
Treachery & Greed PressGang01</A>

The Shades have no one close enough to shoot except drunks.
Rotwiper, the Beastmaster, can’t get his cold one beasthounds to both not be stupid at the same time.
Banemaker, the Highborn, charges the first drunk available.
Both Fell blades, Innra and Nakod, get knocked down from shots by the Bandits and their hired Tilean marksman and the running around crowd.
Treachery & Greed PressGang02</A>

(Crowded: once the shooting starts the crowd runs around knocking down anyone who doesn’t pass a toughness test.)

The Bandits split into 3 groups.
One group on the ground to gather drunks and two groups on buildings to shoot arrows into the Dark Elves, and a few drunks.
The ones on the ground have a tough time with the crowd also.Treachery & Greed PressGang04</A>

A stupid beasthound gets…stupid. He gets shot a lot. Cover is the only thing that gives him a chance. With Ld 4, once he gets away from the beastmaster, there is not much hope for him to do anything.
Treachery & Greed PressGang05</A>

Banemaker and Innra climb into a window and take on a drunk.
Then they climb up to the roof to go after the bandit hero who just recruited a drunk on the stairs.
Treachery & Greed PressGang06</A>

With Initiative 6, what’s not to love about diving charges?
Treachery & Greed PressGang07</A>

With Dark Elves running amuck on the ground, the Bandits beat a retreat.

Post Battle:
Each side ended with 3 or 4 drunks.
One of the Dark Elf drunks, taken the hard way, died of his wounds.
Rotwiper (Beastmaster) gets a much needed Leadership advance.

Week 1

Dark Elves vs High Elves

Sirrah, Ye Lie, daylight, crowded, city guards, random entry for reserves as per scenario.
High Elves come from the East. (As best as I can remember)
Dark Elves enter mostly from the South.
To stay away from the crowded streets some Dark Elves go through the Blow Hole.
As a lone High Elf hero comes on the board on the West side the Dark Elves go after her.
Treachery & Greed Sirah01</A>

Going through the building is fine but watch that first step.
The crowd knocks down Innra and a few others.
Banemaker and a Shade go after the lone High Elf.
Treachery & Greed Sirah02</A>

Nakod sets up a diving charge and the High Elf is squished.
Notice the tape measure. High Elves can shoot a long way!Treachery & Greed Sirah03</A>

That’s all I remember except that the High Elves roll 12 for their first break test.

Post Battle:
Dark Elves find a case of Grog and Loose Lips.
Farkiller, the helpful Shade becomes a “lad’s got talent” hero.
Rotwiper, the beastmaster, gets a leg wound.
Now it will be harder to keep up with those beasthounds.

"Press Gang! Too."
A strange tale of Grog and Grogginess

The winds of war they blow strong on Sartosa Island. Grootka and the ladz hear tell of a captain in Vermunte, he need a crew! He pay good money for some lubbers if they walking. Seems elf kill his old press gang. Grootka say "ye don' say. Ize struck by lightning that same day!"
So the Gutrippas take out they best clubs and take a walk down Low Street in old Ossomunte. (Ain't rightly no 'new' Ossomnte.) Plenty of useless but still living gits drinking in an old adobe ruin called the Split Bucket. It called the Split Bucket, because Master Simp, he got no whole buckets left to drink out of.
Got lots of gits laying about trying to drink out of shoes, broken pots and the like. Grootka and Nameless tap one likely lubber onna shoulder. Gentle like. Git scream and whirl round! Knife and cutlass work this is! Nameless immediately get interested in his own toes. Grootka roar and shout, but Nameless looks to be learning to count. Looks like he starting with grains of sand, won't be able to help anytime soon.
Sharp Eye run over. Tap the git gente like onna head. End of that foolishness. Nameless stop counting sand, drag git along by the foot.
Grootka, he see another git come out of the Split Bucket. Git a ways off, so Grootka take his bow. Take out 'blunt arra' and take aim. Hit git true. Kill him stone dead. Damn blunt arra was not blunt!
Grootka walk over and pull his arra back out. Yup, got a nice sharp steel point. Hur!
Screaming! Grootka look up see 4, 5 elf hopping and skipping around this pissed humie git. Grootka and Sharp Eye shoot arras at the lot of them gits, why not? Don't do no good. Might have got dark, might could have been the rain.
Humie don't need no help. Elf need help. Humie cut on those elf until 2 die and the rest run away. Hur!
More screaming. 2 elf beating on Wuziz, beat old Wuziz down. Grootka think this unfair. Try to count. 4, 5 elf cain't take 1 humie, drunk he is. 2 elf kill old Wuziz. Grootka guess Wuziz not much orc. Sic Nameless on those bad elf gits. Now 3 elf dead. Rest run away. Sorted.

Post Battle.
Wuziz not die, see elf take him away later. Orcs win! Not find much but get some gold out of captured lubbers.
Elf. 3 elf die! Ha! Elf patch up some hurts and head back to the coast to collect the reward for the pirates they captured. Stinking Law!

Very nice and inspiring, als always!
So you have all joined one of the tilean alliances/guilds/mercenary groups (whatever they are called) and let your games count for your faction? A cool idea, after all skirmishes and pirates fit into this area just as nicely as big battles - especially as on the campaign map most people seem to be at sea Wink

P.S.:
The marksmen did quite well in their advances, i see no leadership and only one initiative advance....especially the ballistic skill advances seem fitting and will give the poor orcs grief Very Happy .

Ahoy Horatius,
I am the only one to join T&G online. Playtable didn't have much fun the last time he played. Smalls is not an online kind of guy and I have no excuse for Chadwicc.

Of this community however there are lots of familiar names, WbK and I are members of the same faction, Blacksquig (as Snivels) is with the Blues, Blessed Knight joined somebody and now I'm going to stop listing people in case I miss some one. Meercat is one of the Mods

Ja the Outlaws are going to be a pain for a bit. Of course if they lose a hero a week the pain will be less... Smile

Cheers.

Grootka and Cookie Wassis were sitting next to a dying bonfire on a Sartosan beach. Da Smasher rode at anchor off the breakers.
"Wot weez gonna do?" asked Grootka. "Elf shoot. Humie shoot like elf. Hates dem elf!"

Cookie he throw some rum on the fire, so it flares up. WOOSH! Then the fire goes out. Damn dark on the beach.

"Wot yuz seez?" asks Cookie.

"Cain't seez a damn fing," say Grootka.

"Dat wot weez do," say Cookie. "Fight da gits inna dark! Hur!"

Next day, jolly boat row up. Fancy goblin git from da Fleet. Goblin prance around, say: "Duss spake da Big Chief Arrgberg, 'sail ye down ta da Cave o' da Damned. Search ye fer da Treasure of Alee Bahbla. It dere, gits sez so! Ize, Big Chief Arrgberg, needz da gold, quik like. Gobbo gots map tattooed on hiz back. Ye ken wot ta do, so hop to!' Duss spake da Big Chief."

Gobbo looks at Grootka. Grootka say, "Cookie?"
Cookie say, "ya?"
"Skin dis gobbo. Ize needs da map off hiz back."

As they sailed down the coast Grootka think, messenger gobbo never figure out that they always die. Funny. Hur!

Week 2--The Caves of the Damned, the Skull Sands and the Pirates' Current

"The Nameless Horror"
A Desperate Battle beneath the Earth

They were close. Grootka was sure of it. They had traveled downward into the depths of the Caves. Each of the guideposts on their goblin skin map had been reached. All they had to do was continue up this passageway...
"Puppies?"
"Wot?" growled Grootka. "Ain't no puppies 'ere."
Grootka was staring at the glittering riches in the next chamber. Looked like a right good haul, just kinda dumped there. Then he noticed the glowing eyes.
"Puppies!" yelped Nameless with glee. The big lubber rushed into the treasure chamber straight at a large reptilian quadruped. Dog size, if you like really big dogs. Nameless ran right into a stalactite and landed on his back.
Before anyone could react a black-clad elf appeared with a fiery sword. Didn't look good for Nameless.
The orcs charged in. Or tried to. Both Cookie and 'Eadtaker collided in a narrow entrance. They ended up tangled on the ground. Grootka slipped on a loose stone, or perhaps it was a skull...
Yo'and drew his cutlass and dagger and threw himself at the startled elf. Its burning sword winked right out. Yo'and was doing right well. Got both that elf and one of the hound things, then the elfs cut his legs out from under him. Down he went. The surviving orcs grabbed their fallen and made for the exits.

Sharp Eye.
Sharp Eye noticed the elf wasn't chasing him. Sharp Eye stop running. Look around. Listen. Them elf iz fightin sumfing. Sumfing big!
Sharp Eye inch around a big spike of rock. Get a better look. Elf fights monster. Big git with ropy arms, arms that end in claws, big teeth and more mouths than was natural. Some elf down, some trying to drag shinys away, some fight. Zoggin elf cut big monster up with a burning sword, just like Nameless. Gits!
Sharp Eye start running again.

Post Battle.
Nameless survives the burning sword. Yo'and has to miss a battle because of his leg wound. The ladz managed to grab a bit of treasure, but not much.
Elfs. Dark evil elfs. Found some light armor, a bit of gold and a gromril weapon. I don't think any died.
Both warbands search for henchmen and recruit them.

"Chance Encounter"
Ill meeting with Outlaws

They had sneaked back down after the elfs had gone and found some more stuff. Grootka was pretty pleased about that. Make the Big Boss happy. They were almost clear of the lower deeps when Nameless said, "Doh!"
The troll started to drool a lot. Grootka cuffed him on the head, but he wasn't going forward. Zoggin passage ended in a narrow little door. No way Nameless fit through that. Sharp Eye start arguing about "zoggin big lubber, nevva do nufing! Drool alla time!"
Slo Bil say "Kap'n?"
Grootka say "Wot?"
An arrow slammed into the stone wall of the passage.
"Humies," say Slo Bil.

Grootka gather the ladz around.
"Right! Dis iz wot weez do. Slo, ye an Jak circle round, gits behind em. Sharp..."

Sharp Eye was into his rant. "Zoggin nevva do nufing! No stan' watch! No splice cable!"

Grootka moved on. "Eadtaker, yuz wit meez. Cookie yuz cut em off. Recka, ye wit Cookie. Right? Get em!"
'Eadtaker snagged his executioners hood on a spur of rock. As he tried to keep moving and get the eye holes to line up, he collided with the rock wall.

It took awhile but Grootka finally had a line of battle. The humies were split by a big wall of rock. Only 5 of them faced Nameless, Recka, 'Eadtaker, Cookie and himself. Right now the humies couldn't even see the orcs, too far for their weak eyes. Grootka gave Nameless the signal. The big troll would charge out of the dark. The humans would be trapped and defeated!

Nameless roar! He charge. 'Eadtaker charged right behind him. The humies filled Nameless full of arras! He fall right down. No problem. 'Eadtaker and Jak right behind, they jump over body... 'Eadtaker down! Grootka hit by 3, 4 arra! It go dark, too dark to see...

Post Battle.
No Marksmen are even injured. (Cookie knocked one down.) The Marksmen get a bunch of gold.
Orcs. Everybody recovers. Lost a bit of the treasure, but found some more nearby. Back at the beach a crate of Toughened Leathers was found. Recruit another orc boy.

Grootka think maybe time to pay a visit to the Haunted Port. Miserable weather there, that fix these shooty gits!

“The Treasure Ship”
Illustrated speculation by Von Kurst

The Marksmen and the Sea Patrol attacked a crippled merchant ship. (In all fairness the elfs did not directly attack the merchant, they waited until the Marksmen had captured the ship. Then they captured it from the Marksmen. Classic Law trick, the vessel counts as a prize and can be condemned by the Prize Court.)
The Marksmen sailed directly at the Merchant. They fired cannon when able and kept up a constant storm of arrows. At least one volley found the Sea Patrol as well. The hired Elf Ranger ended up in the drink.
The Merchant crew put up a stiff resistance, aided by the attrition caused by the Patrol’s arrows. Eventually the leaderless merchant crew surrendered, but the Outlaws were only able to secure one treasure before they were forced to flee.

The Marksmen (who look like wood elves) board the treasure ship (plain sail) as the Patrol grapples their ship.
Treachery & Greed TreasureShip1</A>

The doomed merchant crew (Empire swordsmen) repels boarders.
Treachery & Greed TreasureShip3

Post battle:
The Marksmen lose Brek Harken, their LGT hero. They gain some jewels from the treasure ship, but must watch in helpless rage as the Law loot the rest of the vessel.

The Patrol scores big in income. No real figures are available at this time. All elfs recover from their injuries.

Deadly Channel
Dark Elves vs High Elves
Daytime, bad shooting weather => -2 to hit with arrows

Playtable’s Dark Elves forgot how to play the scenario and went ashore and onto a grounded derelict ship to wait for the High Elves to come get them.
Stupid Dark Elves.
Dark Elves were lucky for the bad shooting weather.
The High Elves knew what to do and stayed back in their row boats and shot at the Dark Elves.
Treachery & Greed DeadlyChannel01</A>

While the High Elves were shooting they accidently activated the one crocodile, which made a bee line towards them and attacked a boat. All the High Elves on the boat charged the crocodile and didn’t notice the Dark Elves rushing into them.

After 4 or 5 turns of getting shot, the Dark Elves remembered what to do and got back into their boats and came around the island to go after their hated kinfolk.
The Beastmaster was first off the line, coaxing his cold one beasthounds into a nearby boat with a Fellblade and Shade.
On the way one Cold one Beasthound went stupid and walked out of the boat.
Treachery & Greed DeadlyChannel02</A>

That was OK because a little later the other one charged a High Elf (busy with the croc.) and chewed him good. The Fell Blade, Shade, and the Beastmaster joined in. With the Crocodile on the water side and the Dark Elves on the boat with them, the 3 High Elves went OOA quickly.

With 3 members gone, and all the boats of Dark Elves now gaining ground (or water) towards them, the High Elves fled quickly.

Week 3
Down at the Docks
Dark Elves vs the Marksmen of Stirwood
Daytime, clear weather, crowded.

The Dark Elves set up in the N.E. corner with the Cold one beasthounds failing 2 of the 1st 4 Ld tests. The Beastmaster is Ld 9 but it doesn’t help. The end result is that instead of leading the advance they end up trailing.
Treachery & Greed DownattheDocks1</A>

Knowing that the crowd will stampeed when shots are fired, and only being toughness 3, the Dark Elves all make for the Customs Building towards the center of the board.
(If you are inside when the crowd goes wild you are safe from being knocked down.)
Treachery & Greed DownattheDocks2</A>

After scouting out the city from up high, the Marksman start on a rise at the S.E. corner
Treachery & Greed DownattheDocks3</A>

and quickly go for the balconies and roof tops to shoot from.
Treachery & Greed DownattheDocks4</A>

They send 6 members to advance towards the Dark Elves as they shoot. They make no atempt towards the real prize, the ship’s cargo.
Treachery & Greed DownattheDocks5</A>

The crowd goes wild when the shooting starts and cause trouble to the elves who didn’t make it into the building soon enough. The Dark Elves shoot back with one repeater crossbow from inside the building while the beastmaster and his hounds try to catch up.
Treachery & Greed DownattheDocks6</A>

Once the crowd leaves, the Dark Elves emerge in force and charge the Marksmen on the ground.Treachery & Greed DownattheDocks7
Marksmen drop like flies.
With 4 shooters left the Marksmen decide to stay and shoot the Dark Elves for funzies. The elves rush into the buildings to stop this and the Marksmen rout just before HTH can begin.
This leaves the ship’s crew to contend with for the cargo. The chip’s 2 swivel guns have been firing all along without hitting anything. As the Dark Elves charge towards the ship, the crew shoots their pistols at them. Nothing happens until the elves charge the ship. The elves get swarmed before they can bring more numbers to bear and are forced to rout after loosing 2 heroes and 2 henchmen.

Post battle:
The non-player Ship’s crew wins. No one gets any crates.
Marksmen have their leader die. Mean Dark Elves!
Dark Elves have a corsair die. Mean Marksmen!
Farkiller, LGT Shade, now hates their hired Tilean marksman. Huh, like he needed a reason?
Dark Elves search and find a 3rd repeater crossbow.

Week III—Skirmishes in Sartosa, and the Haunted Port of Mordini

"Dark Ritual”
The Gutrippas arrive in Mordini by Von Kurst with illustration by Playtable

“Weez dere yet?” Grootka asked in a rumbling voice that was meant to be quiet. Visiting a humie boneyard in a deserted city was starting to get on his nerves. Marching along through a pouring rain on broken decayed streets wasn’t helping.
“Juss cross dis here bridge,” growled Cookie, “da magick’s gathers dere. Big juju.”
Grootka and the ladz gripped their weapons and peered ahead into the gloom. There was a big stone hut in the middle of the next island. Lots of little stones stuck in the ground too. And some smaller stone huts. No palms just dead trees with broken skeletal branches.
Grootka looked closer. Did something move near the big stone hut? He couldn’t tell, but there was no use standing in the rain.
“For’ard,” he ordered.
Nameless immediately stopped in his tracks.
Cookie and ‘Eadtaker collided with the troll and stumbled. Both of them sprawled on the ground.
Sharp Eye started in again, “lubber! Stand round. Nevva do nufing!”
Grootka didn’t need this. He kicked Nameless then turned toward Sharp Eye.
“’Ware git!”
Two humies seemed to rise up out of the ground near Sharp Eye. Sharp roared and started swinging his choppa. One of the humies grabbed on to his choppa arm, the other just flailed its arms around. Grootka roared with frustration and cut the closest one’s head off.
More of the ded fings clawed their way out of the ground around them. Soon the night was filled with the sound of orc war cries, blades and clubs hitting flesh and the mindless moans of the ded fings.
The crew cut its way across the bridge but Grootka hung back to encourage Nameless. The big lubber stood in the middle of the chaos and mumbled about puppies and wabbits.

A zombie attacks 'Eadtaker as the rest of the crew tries to cross the bridge.
Treachery & Greed DarkRitual2

Eventually most of the warband was able to get on to the bridge and the lead boyz got across! There they were set upon by some of them elf Law boys, er, girls.
Treachery & Greed DarkRitual3</A>

Elf Laws jumps old Rigga Top. Rigga duff them elf up good!
Treachery & Greed DarkRitual4

The Tomb.
Slo Bil and Yo’and cut their way into the Big Stone Hut. Lots a bones, ded un humies laying round. Old duppy humie git chanting away next to this slab of rock with a doxie tied to it.
Yo’and jump at that old git. Old git howl and gibber, some of them ded uns stand up fight Slo Bil and Rigga. Rigga get kilt!

Outside.
Law elf run off. Orcs hoot and laugh! All of a sudden orcs hear this terrible howl. More ded fings then ever claw their way up out of the ground, bite and claw at everybody near the Big Stone Hut. Nameless finally get in the fight, but one by one the crew is pulled down by ded uns.
The Tomb.
Yo’and stick his cutlass clean through that old duppy humie. Yo’and howl his own self! But his victory is short-lived. The last ded un leap on Yo’and, smash the big orc’s noggin against the wall of the hut. Yo’and go down for the count. Slo Bil chop that last ded un into little pieces, but it’s a little too late.
Last Stand on the Bridge.
Nameless the only one left at the foot of the bridge. Sharp Eye, Grootka and Cookie crowd the bridge’s rail, shoot arra and throw Mate Gork’s fire into the mass of zombies that rage around the troll. Behind the archers ‘Eadtaker cut another bit off the Zombie That Won’t be Destroyed. Finally Nameless chew up the last zombie standing and the orcs roar their victory.

Post battle:
2 elf die. Pesky elf heroes collect a good amount of gold even if they did run. As they retreat they liberate an elf prisoner from the necromancer’s victims, who joins them.
Orcs—Rigga dies. Orcs find an orc prisoner among the gravestones he joins up, too. Call him Rigga Top 2. Yo’and, he become Hardened by his ordeal. Orcs find a bit of gold and on the way back to the ship they liberate a powder magazine. Find some Superior Black Powder.

After the fight is over, Grootka and Cookie enter the Big Stone Hut. Lots of chanting and flashing green lights are seen and heard. Later they come out of there. No sign of that doxie, but Grootka he seem more cunning and bossy. Cookie his eyes are haunted, he don’t say much.

“The Great Gun”
Cookie Wassis’ Doom as told by Von Kurst with illustrations by Playtable

Grootka pace the deck. Colic’ Jak got the watch.
Grootka cuff Colic’ Jak. “Wuz it rainin’, weez in Sartosa dat time?”
Jak look over the rail at his best hat bobbin on the waves. “Don’ rightly recall. Been mighty dry dis moon, Sartosa.” Jak rub his noggin. Put his mit on his choppa. “Day da ol’ Cookie die?”
“Ya, wuz it rainin?” Grootka stare hard at Jak. Grootka got his paw on his axe.
“Musta been two hands of the gits agin ‘im.” Jak make a show of counting his fingers. Not touch dat choppa, no.

Slo Bil climbs the stairs. Cookie follows. Bad elfs lurk in the shadows.
Treachery & Greed GreatGun1</A>

“Oh aye! Two hands, maybe one foot, too.” Grootka stomps on Jak’s sore toe. “Lots a dem bad elf.”
“Aiii! Lots, or maybe iz many…” Jak holds foot. Try not to hop or pitch over the rail.

Slo Bil fights da bad elf. Cookie fights da bad elf. Off in the alley Grootka fight da elf dat did fer Nameless. (Zoggin git!)
Treachery & Greed GreatGun2</A>

“Lots, many, wuz enuff. Dat Cookie, he ded. Dat Bil, he dead.” Grootka walk off humming like.
“Ya Bil wuz slow.” Jak look over the stern, but his hat long gone.

Cookie and Bil iz gonnas. Big Face Lubba Gar fight all the damn elf inna world. Off in the ally ‘Eadtaker and Grootka dodge crossbow bolts. Kick the downed elf.
Treachery & Greed GreatGun3</A>

Post Battle
Orcs--Nameless get better. (Had to grow a new head!) Big Face get better, too. Grootka promote Big Face ‘cause he still live after all those cuts. Slo Bil and Cookie Wassis killed dead. Grootka hire a new shaman. (Had to sell the good powder…)
Bad Elf—sell that big gun, make lots of money. Make even more money doing crooked bad elf things. Find all kinds of good things in the shops, but complain cause they could afford even more if only they could search more. Wounded elf, get better. Just another day, keeping the GREEN down.

I always love you battle reports, but i do wonder about one thing:
What self-respecting necromancer would do a powerful dark ritual inside of a PINK building Razz ?
Up to now i had never heard about a slaaneshi undead cult....but you live and learn.
Oh, and keep up the good work!

Aye they be a rare, dying (possibly dead) cult in fair Mordini. Smile

The store sponsored a make terrain day a few months ago. One of the college kids made the pink thing, but left it unfinished. I can't chide him too much as my oft remodeled tower in the Great Gun shows.

Cheers!

Week IV—The Howl of the Wolf.
A Night in the Osso Hills

"Dark Ritual”
Narration by Von Kurst with illustration by Playtable

The Dark Elfs and the Marksmen attempted to steal a necromancer’s victim.
Treachery & Greed DarkRitual01

The Dark Elfs advance toward the temple, supported by the stupid hounds. Fall is in the air.

In the dark a confused melee ensues near the stairs of the ancient temple. The Marksmen attempt to shoot their way into the temple, but darkness and the elves’ speed is against them.
Treachery & Greed DarkRitual02</A>

Did the elfs fall because they are clumsy or because the humans shot them? Because they tried to charge!
Treachery & Greed DarkRitual03</A>

One Marksman hero attempts to charge the shattered elven line but trips on a tree root in the dark. One of the ever-opportunistic elfs appears to stab him while he’s down. The Marksmen’s casualties mount and they flee.

Post battle:
2 elf die. “Russa, the 2 wound Fell Blade, with the Dimashquine Sword and Sea Dragon Cloak and Mirivor, Shade with repeater crossbow both died.”

The clumsy hero loses an arm. The Marksmen count the loss as a victory, because no one dies.

“The Caravan”

A True Tale of Camels and Wolves by Von Kurst with illustrations by Playtable

Grootka had never been fond of living camels. Dead camels cooked in a stew or raw in a pinch were more to his taste. It had seemed a few miles ago, when these particular camels had been liberated from their former owners, a good idea to allow the camels to move the loot they carried. Now between the wolves of the Hills and the Law, it seemed a bad decision.

“Halt! Thieves and villains surrender yon camels and lay down your weapons or we shall fill thee with cloth-yard shafts!”

The cold imperious voice from out of the darkness was filled with authority and contempt. The effect was spoiled by the bawls of frightened camels and the howls of hunting wolves.

Grootka cuffed a camel. “Wot say ye? Come ovva ‘ere an palaver. Ize busy!”

Almost simultaneously several arrows slammed into Nameless and half of the camels bolted into the darkness as three overzealous wolves attacked the caravan. Nameless lurched to a halt. “Puppies!” He croaked. Then the big lubber collapsed in a heap.

Grootka unlimbered his own bow and sent an arra back at the damned elfs.

“Look lively ladz! Catch ye dem blasted humps or wez lose da loot!”

The snarls of the wolves turned to whines and yelps as ‘Eadtaker and Big Face dealt with the attack. Orcs ran hooting into the night after the galloping camels. Elfs shot into the mess with cold efficiency.

Most of the camels are recaptured, but elfs shoot one. Nameless is still standing.
Treachery & Greed Caravan01</A>

a few more arrows, Nameless goes down.
Treachery & Greed Caravan02</A>

a few more arrows, Nameless is gone.
Treachery & Greed Caravan03</A>

loose camels run everywhere. Elfs lost the hill but lots of orcs are down.
Treachery & Greed Caravan05</A>

Post battle.
Grootka suffers Madness. He becomes subject to Frenzy. (Especially when camels or elves are mentioned. The crew learn to walk soft.) Granny Nog suffers Horrible Scars. (No one can really tell.)

3 elfs die! Ha! But elfs find a prisoner. (Bastard got a way from the ladz in the excitement!) So they replace one casualty for free. And elf capture one camel (actually they killed it), elfs get rich some more.

“Wolf Hunt I”

By Von Kurst with illustration by Playtable

“Puppies!” Nameless was ecstatic. Two wolves leapt for his throat. The troll gurgled with glee. He frowned slightly when the snarling terrors died during his attempt to pet them. “More puppy?”

The Marksmen stalk the wolves (played by lions).

Treachery & Greed WolfHunt201</A>

Instead of more wolves, arrows appeared in Nameless’ chest. “Doh!” said Nameless.

The orcs try to advance using cover. This sort of works and sort of doesn’t. Work.

Treachery & Greed WolfHunt202</A>

Nameless (partially hidden by trees) leads the advance for a moment. Grootka tries to hide in the mine.

Treachery & Greed WolfHunt203</A>

Post Game

Despite Nameless actually getting into combat (and duffing up the Marksmen’s priest) I roll a 10 and flee with the first rout test. Granny Nog suffers a Chest Wound after being hit by 2 crossbow bolts. Stupid Tileans! Kill them all! The orcs find a Blank Flag inside the mine.

The Marksmen win another game against the orcs.

Wolf Hunt 2
High Elves vs Dark Elves with darkness and dogs, I mean wolves.

The High Elves set up on high.
They make a firing line and wait for their hated enemies.
Treachery & Greed WolfHunt101</A>

Having very little shooting, the Dark Elves rush forward as fast as they can.
Planning to run through the wolves, eating them as they go.
Treachery & Greed WolfHunt102</A>

The Cold one beashounds find a snack on the way.
The infiltrating elf is isolated and goes OOA.
Treachery & Greed WolfHunt103

The Dark Elves chew through the wolves as the High Elves find they are too far back to shoot in the darkness and must come forward a little.
Treachery & Greed WolfHunt104</A>

Everything looks to be going the way of the Dark Elves as they continue the advance and finish off the last of the wolves.
Treachery & Greed WolfHunt105

At last the Dark Elves are gathered for a mass charge and in range for the slaughter.
It is also the time that all the High Elf shooting comes into play at last.
With no cover and the High Elves with only a -1 to hit due to the darkness, the Dark Elves are pincushioned into routing before the real fun can begin.
Treachery & Greed WolfHunt106</A>

Post battle:
Dark Elves loose the game but get all 6 of the wolf pelts at 10gc each.</A></A>

Week V

Skirmish
Dark Elves vs Marksmen
City of Sartosa, night (10” vision), clear weather

Dark Elves move as fast as they can in the darkness.
Both warbands split up to go around the central Church of Mannan.
On the North, two shooters go up on the balcony of the NCO Club, with 5 on the ground.
Treachery & Greed Skirmish005</A>

On the South, two shooters go up on the 3-Sisters building.
One goes on the balcony (with permission from the eldest sister) and the Tilean Marksmen goes on the roof (Tileans can’t be trusted).
Five go on the ground.
Treachery & Greed Skirmish006</A>

Dark Elves send the Cold one beasthounds to the North with the Beastmaster, a Fellblade, and the Old Smuggler.
A henchman, who falls down a lot, trails them.
Treachery & Greed Skirmish002</A>

On the South the other 7 go forward using as much cover as possible.
Treachery & Greed Skirmish003</A>

On both the North and the South, the Marksmens have 2 horrible shooting turns in a row, giving the Dark Elves the unfair advantage.

Pouncing on that advantage, the beasthounds, who only go stupid once in their advance, charge 2 bowmen on the ground, taking one OOA.

The Cleric fails 3 times to get his magical hammer, but does charge a beasthound.
He gets knocked down in HTH, and gets taken OOA by the Beastmaster the next turn as the beasthound charges another bowman.

The Old Smuggler shoots up at the figures on the balcony, to no effect.
Treachery & Greed Skirmish008-1</A></A>

On the south side of the church, the Marksmen charge a Corsair sneaking around in the Port Authority building.
The Corsair prevails.
The Dark Elves retaliate and charge in in force.
A Fellblade falls down in the dark but the rest pile in.
Treachery & Greed Skirmish007</A>

The Corsair with the great weapon survives hitting last but fails to wound with his 2 strength 5 attacks.
Other Marksmens aren’t that lucky and they beat a haisty withdrawl.

Post battle:
Marksmen’s hired Duelist, who failed his 2 parries, dies as do 2 henchmen. The Dark Elves find one and sell his bow and body to a Necromancer.

The only OOA for the Dark Elves is a beasthound and he/she? (I’m not brave enough to check) recovers.
Dark Elves get lots of gold crowns and spend them and all their reserves on 2 Dark Elf blades and 2 Sea Dragon Cloaks.

Week V—Electric Adventures.
Skirmishes in Ossomunte and Sartosa

"The Eaters of the Dead”
Narration by Von Kurst with illustration by Playtable
The town of Ossomunte has a dark secret. Once each lunar cycle the town gates are left open and the houses of the town are tightly locked and barred. Foul things from the wastes are allowed to roam the streets at will and take whomever they can. No one will run to the sound of screaming in the night, no one will help. The appointed night has arrived and the gong for curfew has sounded…

Grootka led the ladz on a stroll down Stinkin Alley. They were east of where it crossed Fleshmarket but south of the Old Temple. Da Masked Git had sent them toward the Two Arches. Said to pick up a humie nob that was missing from his palace. Yo’and was holding the odd little vial Da Git said to give to the nob. Grootka ask which nob? Git say “the one you encounter.” Grootka think about killing da Masked Git right then, but as they walked along he had to admit that the streets of Ossumunte were damned empty, dark as pitch and this fog wasn’t helping any. All the houses were locked tight and there was no one on the streets, not even thieves. Grootka was hoping to get this done quick so they could make Last Call at the Blow Hole, but he was getting worried as none of the bars seemed to be open. Something wasn’t right.

Grootka and the ladz near the Two Arches.
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead001</A>

The Dark Elfs move quickly through the dark fog shrouded streets.
Ghouls appear out of the mist on their left.
The Mad Prince is inspecting a wall.
Nameless hasn’t seen the elfs yet. It’s foggy.
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead002</A>

The Dark Elfs’ Hired Swords are in the ghouls’ flank.
The Leviathan hunter harpoons one ghoul OOA.
Then the next 2 ghouls climb up and take both hired swords OOA.
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead003</A>

The Dark Elfs’ Sorceress.
Gleeful at the though of slaughter.
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead004</A>

The Elfs surround the drooling Prince.
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead005</A>

Elfs charge! And kick butt at first.
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead007</A>

Nameless gets stuck in! (The charge fails as Nameless rolls a 1 to wound. Honest it’s the troll’s fault. Git!)
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead008</A>

Nameless is still standing and things look bleak for the Elfs.
Did anyone mention 'Eadtaker is T6?
No wonder things look bleak for the S3 Elves.
Treachery & Greed EatersoftheDead009</A>

Post battle:
The Elfs lose the Leviathan Hunter, Mobley, to vengeful ghouls. Urda, the newest Fellblade, suffers a Nervous Condition and lost a point of initiative. Even though the Highborn had captured the Prince and defeated Nameless, the Dark Elfs flee. (‘Eadtaker and Grootka were looming over two stunned heroes…)

Orcs—finally get rich from the reward for the Prince. Nameless is able to regenerate (the Highborn only stunned him with the flaming sword.) Big Face loses a Pit Fight, but recovers form his injuries from that. Even though he lost all his stuff it's easy to replace. Granny Nog suffers another Chest Wound. She is now T2! Joy! The orcs purchase their first blunderbuss and hire another boy.
