I'll just reprise the unveiling of my Poisoned Wind Globadier.

Base is homegrown from two round GW-bases, the bottom of half a drum, a rat and some greenstuff:

I later added static grass and some foliage to the base, but I never took a picture of it.

These are some for my vampire counts in fantasy. I made them so that when the models are ranked up correctly there are skeletons on the bases. The joints are cut in various places so that each base is independent, despite sharing the skeletons.

And the bases for my beastmen. I normally keep the bases somewhat low key, so for me these were pretty high variety:

@Fungomungus - Rohan and orcs and horses all enjoying a nice dirt nap under the feet of the mumak!

@ Mr. Chair - I really like the skeleton bases, and the beastmen bases are nice too.

There are some really cool bases here! The best I've done are the ones here but they don't even compare to these.

This Thread IS an excellent idea. My take on bases is that they provide a setting for the mini. They enhance a well done piece, &, provide a time & place. These are ALL FINE examples. The chopped up Skeletons bases are a GREAT idea. thumbsup

I'm glad you guys like the skeletons, I was pretty proud of that idea, simple as it may be. I've really had a fun time doing basing in Flames of War since you have such a large piece of land to show off the surrounding terrain since there are four men to a base. 28mm is always a challenge because you can only fit so much, but I totally agree that it gives the setting for your miniatures.
