| I think I've got things sorted out now so that I can post a few pictures of my figures. None of them are Mordheim, and since there is a thread about Reaper Miniatures elsewhere on the forum I thought I'd post some pics of a few Reaper figures I've painted up. Some of the minis look better than others as they are from varying stages of my painting career. And some of the minis look overly shiny as my semi-gloss finish photographs a lot shinier than it appears in real life. And some of the figures don't have finished bases as I usually take photos right after painting and wait until I have a bunch of figures painted so I can mass-base them. Anyway, enough disclaimers and on with the photos. First is my Warhammer Giant, used as a Dogs of War choice for my Skaven. When I did his base I painted up a bunch of Giant Rats and placed them on it, so he would fit in with the rest of the figures. Next up is a couple of Rat Ogres and some figures from my Stormvermin command. I love painting Rat Ogres as they have nice large weapons as well as mutations and deformities. And finally some Reaper Battle Nuns from their Warlord line, as well as a Clay Golem from the Dark Heaven line that I painted up for Superhero gaming. And that's it for now. Hopefully at some point this year I'll have a few Mordheim figs painted up and be able to post a few photos of those. I moved the topic to the Gallery forum even though these are not Mordheim, not even GW models. It will be confusing to find painted models scattered all over the board. Some (ok, few) of the Mordheim warbands in the Gallery have non-GW models as well. -cianty | |

| Very well painted. I must say, my favorite pictuers is the last one: the clay Golem. I love the shading on that. It came out very well.
Bravo. Can't wait to see the rest.

| Very nice job! Yeah the Golem's skin turned out amazing.
You should try to shade the metal parts aswell though. Currently they are only painted in one shade. I usually use a black base, which i brush with TIN BITZ and then with the appropriate metallic color.
You can also do "non-metallic" metal parts, but that requires some practice. I am currently trying to get the hang of that technique...which I think looks awesome. _________________

| Really beautiful minis! Just one suggestion, you could try to paint some shadding aroud the nuns' eyes, as they have a funny effect now. But still, I like them a lot! | |

| If I may offer one humble suggestion;
It appears that you use a high-gloss coat to ensure that your paintjobs remain unmarred by playing; I would assume that you are a gamer at heart and actually use your minis rather than have them sit on a shelf!
With that in mind, your models all have a high "Lacker-Sheen" because of the coat you've given them. I've found that if you give them a light coat of Matt Varnish it doesn't mar the detail significantly, and it helps tone down the sheen...
Just a suggestion. Other than that, I would agree that the golem is my favorite; excellent looking skin, my friend!

| Yes, I am a gamer at heart and have been back and forth on the varnish issue. I had some experiences with Matte Varnish frosting some figures, and some Matte Varnish from another manufacturer sucking all the shine out of some armored figures. My ronze and Silver Sisters of Battle turned Brown and Grey. The shiny stuff was way too shiny, so I went to a Semi-Gloss from a model railroading paint company. I've heard that I can then paint over that with Dull Cote of some kind wthout losing the shine on my metallics, but haven't found the time to go back over 200+ Skaven and get that done. I've been working on getting different effects on metal, but that's been more recent than any of these photos, which go roughly in chronological order, although the Giant may come in a little later than the rats. That's why the Golem looks the best, as I used many, many layers of highlighting for the skin and had a better idea of where to put the paint. Although it's not very visible in the picture, when I painted the giant I wasn't really sure about some of the highlighting and shading, so he's got some weird tan lines and whatnot going on. I guess it's all about progression. Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions. And because he's popular, here's a back view of the Golem: | |
