| Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I believe there's no 'general forum'. I am starting in Mordheim, I am rather new to the 'miniarures world', just have some skeletons from WH fantasy and some demonesses, orks and chaos from WH 40k, but I have never played. I have some doubts: 1.- Is there an online store that sells Mordheim stuff at good prices and has cheap international delivery rates? I have found lots of online stores that sell games-workshop stuff at better prices than the ones at the official store, but they have next to nothing of Mordheim. 2.- I don't get that miniatures that are not from Mordheim are used for playing it. I mean, being new to miniatures and unable to make conversions, etcetera, how can I know which things would be good and compliant with Mordheim? Is there a reason to use, for example, skavens from WH fantasy instead of skavens from Mordheim? Could you tell me which miniatures from outside Mordheim would be cheaper/better to be used in Mordheim? Anyway, thank you! | |

| You can use any models you like to represent your warband - there are no rules really! They don't even have to be GW ones! Choose whatever models you like, don't feel constrained to using "Mordheim" miniatures! | |

| Welcome to the forums! I agree with the Warboss.
Since you are new to the hobby don't get caught up in the prejudices of "this is the only miniature that is RIGHT". Especially since Games Workshop is no longer supporting Mordheim. Many companies make wonderful miniatures that can be used in Mordheim, just browse the various threads for examples.
Also the original plastic sets for Mordheim are still in the Warhammer range as Empire Militia and Skaven Nightrunners. Both sets were just re-packaged as Mordheim lost 'official' support.
If you want Skaven models, Games Workshop is pretty much it for manufacturers although there are the occasional were-rat releases from other companies for Dungeons and Dragons for example.
Again, you really can use any miniature that looks like a citizen of the Empire to represent a citizen of the Empire. Or that looks like an Orc to represent an Orc. Its OK.

| Thank you for your answers!
As a complete n00b, it's hard for me to search for miniatures that look 'good' for a particular band... I wouldn't know which ones could look well...
I do like the witch hunters, carnival of terror and other bands that, I believe, do not have compatible minis in other GW 'worlds'...
I see also people playing with pirates, but I believe there's no 'official' set for them...
So, no online stores that sell Mordheim stuff?
When you guys say GW does not offer support, it means they won't make more rules, new miniatures, etcetera? But they will continue selling stuff Mordheim stuff, right?

| What i'd do is download the rules from GW's specialist games page, make up a test list. Then look through their model packs and find one that is the same race and has the weapon options you need. For humans the empire milita box has pretty much any weapon you need, skaven the night runners have all the weapons you need. For which hunters it's abit harder i'd buy the mordheim box and then maybe some empire flaggelants which are cheaper for a box of 10. | |

Er.., Online I can't speak about because I don't shop there.
For GW selling old Mordheim stuff, I don't even know if they do that. They do come out with figures that can be used in Mordheim games as part of their collectors range but that is collateral not intentional. Since they reduced/eliminated their bits business, I have not attempted to purchase anything from them.
To determine what you like, just browse the site. When I joined I spent a few weeks looking at old threads to see what people had posted. There are lots of great warbands here and with most of them you will find a "what minis are those?" and an answer with links for purchasing. If you like Witch Hunters you can also do a key word search that should get you started. Good hunting!

| If your country is like mine you can ask your GW store to order in specialist packs i.e the old mordheim warbands. | |

| @Von: GW still sells the Mordheim from their mail order service, same with the rest of the specialist games range, so they haven't totally abandoned it.
Every GW store SHOULD be able to order in the SG range for you with their instore mail order, shouldn't have much trouble getting the models you'd want.

| The exclusive use of GW minis IS a matter of personal preference; if you like GW's stuff, by all means use it, but, as there are no official tournament style games anymore, you can use ANY minis that YOU like. Game Zone makes some fine looking minis that would work well with a Witch Hunter/ Empire War Band & several othe WHFB based War Bands; they're a Spanish outfit, SO...you can buy local. If the Pirates strike your fancy, the Ron & Bones range [ http://www.ronandbones.com/ ] have some GREAT stuff &, again, they're a Spanish company. Be open minded & enjoy all that the mini world has to offer. | |
