Hello dear Mordheimers!

I thought it might be good to have an article about the effect of washes. (don't know if this should be in the tutorial section)

First of all, I really owe Big Tom himself to give him all the credit!! It was his brilliant idea Very Happy

I composed a picture of my latest (all be it 1:72 scale) orc, one with and one without devlan mud wash.

Please bear with me about the shininess, somehow i get it and no one else does.. but any way here are the results:

You can see the results especially on the face of the orc, it get's more contour or what it's called in english? Anyway i mean that the lines get more accents and stand out.

If you really want to show the effect of wash - just paint some wash on a white model - directly on it... just to show the actual affect.
I really do love those washes though...

I love those washes, I have used it to paint a dark elf band of leftover models and it took me half a day to paint everything! And its a nice tabletop quality.
And off course, good work on the model, how far are you now with your pocket version of the city of the dammned?

I've been messing with washes for our cobblestone for the last few days... What consistency do you use for your washes? I've done washes on models in the past and it worked great, but I find that when washing the cobblestone it seems to either end up thick enough that it changes the color of everything or thin enough that it doesn't seem to do much and I can't tell if the cobblestone is just too flat or if I can't get the consistency right.

@ MagnoliaFan:

I have completed the basic crusader warband set. you can find it here

For my orc warband i have completed 14 orcs out of 20 orcs, then i need to do 20 goblins, 5 squigs and a troll. You can find some pictures of some of y finished orks here

After this I will proceed to do houses, create actual gold crowns and make a more fluff version of the shop, rosters and the like. Rules review will also be made for simplicity sake. All to bring the step down for beginner mordheimplayers and easy out-of-the-box playability and portability Very Happy

@ Svenn:

I use devlan mud wash pure. but i tend to brush it off with a dry brush if i think some areas are too thick shaded (whilst it is still wet)

It indeed doesn't do very much, it's not like an overnight transformation, however it does make it better somehow.. i can't explain it!
