marcus' mordheim madness!

this thread will house the painting, modeling, rosters, fluff, and possible battle reports of my mordheim warbands. in effect, it is a blog.


1rst up, the knights of the crimson cross. i only have fluff atm, so try to guess what type of warband they will be.


It was quite. A white-furred rat, larger than most, ran across the rubble, towards the food laid out by the fire. What a fire it was, raging and red hot, basking the entire courtyard of the broken chapel in a warm illumination. As the rat neared its prize, its eyes gleaming with ravenous hunger, silvered steel lanced down into its body. Stopped in its tracks, the rat squealed a pitiful cry as its body spasmed in a death throe. Black blood sloshed from the rat’s ruptured body, landing hither and thither about the courtyard.



“Even the rats are corrupted Bruno. Is this place really that god-forsaken?” asked Maxwell von Elkhart, brother captain of the crimson cross. A shadow materialized from the portal to the chapel’s reliquary and Bruno, the warrior priest kneeled so that he was level with his superior who was sitting upon a fallen stone, and placed the palm of his hand upon Maxwell’s forehead before replying, “I believe so, brother captain. In this place, only our faith in the scepter of light shields us from the baleful energies unleashed by the black heart of chaos.”



The though re-assured him, but Maxwell was unconvinced. He looked around at his band of warriors, noting the steely determination written across each face, and the courage to do what was right gleaming in each eye. Nodding, he said “what say you, men of the crimson cross, will ye fight and die to protect the world from the malign forces that stir in this city?”



Voices raised high, the men answered “Aye!” and Maxwell shed a single tear, for he knew his men would fight to the last for him.

Very nice start indeed! Cant wait to see what you come up with and painted.

ZING! I probably got it as I've considered making some myself, as it stands I've done NO work on any of my models for at least a month :'( just so rammed with work at the mo, such a hassle!
Look forward to seeing how you do them mate, I can live vicariously through you

Oh Wow That's A Cool Mini,But I Think You Should try One Of The Mordheim Witch Hunter Moddils I Think It Would Look Cool In Red And Tan Or Whatever

NICE START! I'm not 100% sure, but the Crusader looks to be an Essex mini; Essex makes or made a fine line of Medieval minis.
A suggestion from a Photographically Challenged Old Coot, you'd get better results photographing a white mini on a darker background, & be sure to shut off/cover the flash. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! Lookung forward to seeing more of your handiwork.

so it continues....


the pale surface of mannslieb shone through the night, its darker brother morrslieb shadowing it like a jealous companion. in the soft moonlight that illuminated the fortified chapel, maxwell could find no comfort. he could not rest until the holy mission charged to him by the grandmaster had been completed. flames of passion and faith towards his cause burned in his eyes, and he was quick to pick out an approaching man through the dark of the streets. maxwell had taken up guard from bruno half an hour ago, and had stood sentinel upon the chapels small wall since then, piercing the night with his firey gaze.

"stop there stranger, and show thyself!" boomed maxwell, his voice carrying accross the diminuitive courtyard to the men by the fire. he could here the rustle of steel sliding from leather sheaths as the men made ready for the worst.
"stay thy hand and thy tounge maxwell, you bumbling bufoon! it is i, hans, come back from my scout of the surrounds." an agitiated voice whispered from the darkness.


with apparent ease after having stood for so long, maxwell rushed down to the small wooden gate an unbarred it, letting his lieutenant and friend into the relative safety of the chapel. as always, hans carried his trusty bow, and wore his steel bowl-helmet.
"thank ye o bufoon, not get out of my way so i can get to the fire to warm my hands and report my findings." said hans, putting a hand to maxwells shoulder before muscling past him.

with this news, mabe maxwell could finnaly get some sleep.....

no suggestions or talking on hans?

PRETTY COOL SO FAR! The minis could use a touch of shadowing on the white areas, but otherwise they look fine. The background material adds a definite flavor to the minis, & gives them a unique character. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

will do....once i get out of my undead phase that is creeping up on me.

My Undead phase lasts until at least the third cup of coffee.

this is why i asked to buy a few zombies in the trade area.

undead phase will stop after i get this box of GG converted into tomb guard and painted.
