I'll post some WIP pics here when I have something to offer. First off, my halfling warband and my Battle monks of Cathay (or is it Nippon?).

These models will be used for Soldiers, except the one to the left, who will be Emissary.
I have debusted the female models a bit, because I found them a tad unproportionate. I also green stuffed some more approriate clothing on one of them. I added a crossbow to the emissary - I'm pretending it's attached to some of those dangly doodahs on his back. The three others were given some bags to carry stuff around, which seems fitting. These I'll be painting next week, so there's plenty of time for comments and suggestions!

Oh man I remember seeing the three right most models while looking for samurai minis for a nippon warband, and I totally agree with your modifications.

I also found these models at perry miniatures, which I liked and someday plan to own.

Also whoever painted mr stripey pants on the right is some kind of good painter man

Yeah, those Perry miniatures are really good. I wish I had spotted those earlier on. The one problem with them is that, being historical, they have no armed female models, and I try to always include at least a couple of ladies in my warbands. It's the power of equality, you know.

BTW, check out the minis at http://www.theassaultgroup.co.uk/. Also historical, also nice. From medieval to modern.

I've got to admit I'm NOT a fan of the LotR range of minis; HOWEVER, you've done a REALLY nice job with the Halflings you posted in the Gallery AND these Guys look to be FINE additions to the War Band. The Nippon Guys are a bit hard to see, at least for my Old Eyes. Have FUN painting the Little Suckers up. thumbsup

If you are looking for Oriental type figures you could try Legend of the Five Rings. Its a card game, that they eventually made a minature combat system for. They produced some figures that are REALLy nice. I dont know if they are still in production or not though.

I did a google search, this shop seems to have a good amount of pictures for the range of them, but looks like they dont have any stock.

Reaper made the LotFR minis. Even with a search I couldn't find them at their site. My guess is that they lost the licence to produce them. That's rather sad as they were quite nice minis. Sad

After having spent the whole day gaming with hamster (two games of Ash Wastes, one of Mordheim), he said regarding Battle monks of Cathay that I should convert some minis for the warband: a halfling monk, a dwarf monk - and then it hit me! You could convert some old troll slayer minis to excellent dwarven monk models. It took a couple of hours, but now I've finished three conversions: two with quarterstaff and one with chain-sticks (and one more conversion on the way...).

So, you can consider my BMOC-warband, once more on the way. Pics in two weeks when I have access to a camera once again!

The minis in the beginning are from Warcrow, I think. Some might be from Resina Planet, I do not remember. Those companies are worth a check out.

The dwarves are slayers; one is a standard slayer model, two are older slayers, and the one I'm working on now is from the dwarven bolt thrower crew (the guy who's pulling a lever). I've trimmed away the slayers hairdos, and made some other alterations as well. One of the older ones is actually attempting a jump kick (leaning on his quarterstaff)!

The guy to the right, now equipped with chain-sticks:

The guy in the middle, will be holding a quarterstaff, I think:

The two older ones I couldn't find any pics of, so you'll have to wait.

New stuff on the way! I'm currently modelling a Marauder warband for BTB. They might never see play but I like the idea for the models alot. They are supposed to be Khazag marauders, all followers of The Cult of the Celestial Dragon (probably Arkhar). I've used Flagellant and Chaos Marauder (Horsemen) bits, plus some saurus stuff, and sculpted bases from Scibor.

Seer, condemned (who's turning dragon btw), chieftain:

Champions:

Henchmen:

Group shot with more of the bases visible, and single base:

Will be painted in two months. Any suggestions on how I might take them further?

A pic of what will eventually be three dwarven warrior monks for my Battle monks of Cathay warband.

I'm really fond of the guys to the left and right. They're really straining to emulate the martial art they've been taught!

VERY COOL bases! I'm not really a big Oriental warrior Fan, but your Guys, especially the Dwarf Monks, are TERRIFIC...might even change my mind on the Kung Fu Fellows. EXCELLENT STUFF!
