Watcher Season update 4 Empty
PostSubject: Watcher Season update 4   Watcher Season update 4 Icon_minitimeThu 9 Apr 2009 - 17:29

Hi Folk.

A new war band joined us this week after the kislevites were decimated last week.

I have a post in the rules and game play section of this forum that explains the lack of experience and how we solved it for a new war band joining an existing campaign.

The last report I did I tried to gather battle reports from the other 2 players and compile a more accurate rendition of the game but to be honest it was hard and confusing to say the least, more so because I only have internet access at work( and I’m supposed to be working)

So this week I’m writing from the Norse perspective and hoping that Martin (man eaters) and Chris (skaven) will do a report from their perspectives for the next 2 games.

Eric the short looked round at his war band, some were still recovering from the pounding from the last battle, some like the wulfen would never fully heal and would be slower for the rest of their lives. A new man, a marauder, had joined them and Eric felt he would be the first of many new recruits for news of the 3 way ogre, kislevite, norse battle had spread and his band came of quite well in the tale.

So here he was again leading his men into another gods forsaken village after information that meant little to him as yet.

He looked round one more time then yelled at the top of his lungs “ forward men of the north, forward to death and glory”, the wulfen, who had no name, leapt forwards with his wolf pack even now Eric could see him struggling to keep up with them.

He reached the side of a hut, unfortunately the door was on the other side but what was this, small furry animal faced men were running to a stand of dead trees then disappearing amongst their twisted dead roots. Could they be beast men, it seemed most likely, he had heard tales of such creatures but something said recently at the trading post he visited came to his mind …. Skaven, rat men, creatures of the sewers, scaly tailed and vicious.

He looked around for the rest of his war band and spotted the ogres, so did the nameless one who hurled himself into the woods between himself and them, his wolves, less comfortable with entering the trees, skirted along the fringes keeping pace with their pack leader. Alfgeir the berserker and Halftan the bondsman followed the wulfen into the woods, “damn that nameless half wolf to hel ” thought Eric” this is why we got so mauled in the last couple of battles, splitting our forces and dividing our strength”. With no alternative at hand Eric followed the wulfen in an assault on the ogres.

Spotting the approaching norse the ogre captain and henchman understandably backed away but they were caught between skaven in front and norse to the rear.

The wulfen went crazy attacking an already downed ogre sending him to the next life.

Grim the berserk who had been at Eric’s side rushed past him desperate to engage an ogre (it was trying to reach them last battle that almost got him drowned) but the skaven were nearer and so they got it. Eric checked his forward rush and surveyed the battle field, at least 2 ogres were down and several skaven bodies littered the ground. He could wipe them all out if the gods smiled on him and they obviously did or why else would he be presented with this opportunity but for now he attacked a giant rat and dispatched it. The wulfen charged and dispatched another ogre. Gunfire echoed across the battle ground, a skaven was taking pot shots at his men, several marauders changed direction to attack him but almost ran into a skaven magic user, his spells did him little good and he fell beneath their axes.

Suddenly the rat men started to leave the battle but only 2 ogres remained standing. The nameless wulfen attacked the ogre captain causing damage but not enough to down him and 2 bondsmen, Halftan and Jorrund attacked and slay a young blood.

Eric moves in to help the wulfen and between them they take him down.

As soon as it started it was over, the villagers had fled in the heat of battle and Eric doesn’t blame them one bit. Eric takes a minute to regroup his thoughts and check over his men. A few light injuries but nothing serious, he hoped his men had learnt something from this little battle, chiefly that their war band worked better as a single unit, though he doubted that the nameless one would take heed of this. Even now the wulfen tended his wolves and ignored the humans around him.

Jorrund approached him with news of a captive, the ogre captain, he knew his men would torture him to death but Eric knew that they could gain gold from slavers for such a brute. Skaven and Ogres lay everywhere and Eric smiled to himself “perhaps the gods are taking notice” he thought comfortingly to himself.

Later that night the ogre captain slipped away whilst the humans got drunk, the only thing that really got hurt was his pride and all he lost was 35 gold and his self respect.

And sure enough 2 more marauders joined his swelling war band.

Thanks for the kind words people.
Eric's warband have grown in strength and numbers since this battle whats more he's gained the Broadsword of Damnation and a Norse Shamen to swell the ranks.
We played a total of 4 battles this weekend - Wyrdstone Hunt and Tainted Copse X2 but i'll leave the battle reports for Chris and Martin to write up (hopefully soon).

Thanks again folk
