| Hi folk, no pictures I’m afraid again this week so I will try to paint a picture with words This week we chose the “Traces to Emprise” scenario as a three way battle on a 4 x 6 (east to west = 4 foot) table and added 3 extra huts. The table was divided by a wide slow running river that divided the village into 4 huts (north) and 5 huts (south) the southern end of the village was slightly larger than the northern end and the huts were well spaced out with two narrow plank bridges (the only bridges we have) being the only dry access across the river. A marsh exits in a loop on the southern bank of the river and in the south west of the table are 2 small wooded areasHeavy rain is rolled up on the weather chart, bad news for the kislevites with their gun powder weapons but luckily 3 of their shooters have raincoats. We decided that each player would roll for perilous phenomenon until a result was reached then leave it at that.Turn 1The Kislevites (west) go first and Chris rolls on the perilous phenomenon chart and guess what ………… he rolls a 1 and subsequently rolls a curious bloom (flesh vines) that come onto the board near Eric the Short who is the only figure near a wooded area. They then move up ready to question terrified villagers. The Man eaters (east) then move up ready to threaten and extort information. The Norse (south) move towards a hut following the wulfen. Eric who has only a berserker with him kills the flesh vine.Turn 2The Kislevite Esaul gains 5 information Points and the Druzina gained 4. the rest of the war band provide cover to the heroes and make the man-eaters think twice about coming nearer. The Man eaters captain “questions” the inhabitants of a hut but gains no information the rest of his motley crew hang back awaiting the captains orders.Eric the short leader of the Norse gains a hut entrance as does the wulfen with the bondsmen, marauders and a berserk trying to keep up with him. The wolves are baying as they catch the scent of man eaters. The wulfen gains 2 info points.Turn 3 The kislevites move around the village in a north easterly direction trying to stay well away from the man-eaters.The man eaters hang around split between the Kislevites to the north west of them and the Norse in the south.Eric reaches another hut entrance and the wulfen and his wolf pack cross a narrow bridge to get amongst the man eaters. Eric gains 2 info pointsTurn 4The Kislevite Drizhina reachs a hut entrance the rest advance slowly on the man eaters. The man eaters await the wolf pack, they are not overly concerned about a few stray mutts but the wulfen behind them is another matter. The wolves charge into the man eater warband followed by the wulfen who causes a wound on a hunter, but a wolf is lost in the man-eaters attack backs, the rest of the norse are struggleing to keep up and this will be their demise. Turn 5The Kislevite Dhruzini gains 5 info points whilst the rest of the warband regroup near himThe Man-eaters charge into the remaining wolves and the hunter struggles on against the wulfen. A norse bondsman is charged before he manages to clear the narrow plank bridge by a youngblood which effectively blocks the bridge. The norse are backed up on the bridge only able to get 1 man into combat at a time all 5 wolves go down and things look grim.. The EndThe man-eaters go mental charging the kislevites and Norse together (at this point we all stopped writing our commentaries), a bold move for a war band that until today has remained cautious in engaging the enemy. It does however work in their favour as they OOA the wulfen and a bondsman whilst a berserker trying to cross the swollen river is swept away, a failed route test see’s an end to the norse. The kislevites fare even worse as in this scenario they are unable to voluntarily route and are OOA’d one by one.The Man eaters are victorious but haven’t gained any info points at all. After Game The norse wulfen loses 1 from his move A maneater young blood misses next game. The Kislevites who already have a leader with “stupid” now roll this for the Streltsi hero and the 2 streltsi hench men are dead this coupled with other various injuries amongst the heroes leads Chris to decide to retire the warband and next game he will field a brand new Skaven warband. My thoughts -a shame about the kislevites who suffered early on in the campaign and had a stupid leader after the first game we played, a new warband is gonna find it tough though. Getting stuck into combat really worked for the maneaters this week and now their numbers are increasing they are getting formidable.Clarification of the fear rules in the "rules and gameplay" section on this site will make the maneaters less fearsome i think. The wulfen suffered his first real set back this week and lost a movement point in the process, i think less wolves and more marauders is the way to go. | |
