Yet another rules question: How does nurgle's rot work on Dark elves, since dark elves' toughness is not supposed to move from their value of 3?

Are they simply not affected?

Which Dark Elves warband are you using? Dark Elves is an unofficial warband so... I guess you are using the one from TC, but I don't see what you say about toughness anywhere so... I can't help you, I'm afraid.

We use the druchii.net list. I am referring to the following:

Frail but Fey
Elves have a sort of delicate, but magical constitution. Elves may never
permanently increase their Toughness attribute beyond a value of 3
(treat their Toughness as having reached its maximum value).
However, their Toughness can never be permanently lowered
(treat any injuries that would result in such a decrease as a
Full Recovery instead). Thus, their Toughness must always be equal to 3.

If I were the ruler of that campaing then, yes, they won't be affected at all.
But as this is an unofficial warband it's up to you I guess.

Hehe I've discussed this racial over and over - i think it's supposed to be a bad thing for the elves - but unless you're at maximum wounds it's only an advantage... Every time you roll wounds/toughness you automaticly gets toughness and besides that you cannot lose toughness to nurgles rot and serious injuries.. woah! Razz

Well, you automatically gain wounds actually. I also believe that this can turn up to be quite an advantage (except maybe later on in a campaign when facing high S opponents).

As the campaign manager, I wanted to take the rule out (regarding losing toughness) but faced heavy opposition from all other players, so we kept the rule, but I feel that our CoC player is disadvantaged, as the 2 other warbands in the campaign are DE and possessed (for which several characters are not affected).

On the other hand, being disadvantage is kind of a part of Mordheim, neh?

Couple of issues:

As noted DE are in Lustria and not in Mordheim, though you could use them.

These COC warband was created for Mordheim and EIF.

They would be affected as the above mentioned rule is on the Serious Injury table and does not cover this condition. This condition came out 7 years after the DE came out and would supercede.

Maybe the better solution would be to strike a middle ground and allow the DE to reroll a failed T test when rolling to see if they have contracted Nurgle's rot? Hence, DEs would actually have a 50% chance of not contracting the rot (if they were originally affected). If the second roll is failed, the NG applies as normal, except that a newly infected member (through the spreading of the disease) would also have the reroll.

Let the dice gods decide!

What do you think? Sounds fair? (to be honest, our DE player is heavily leading our campaign, and I would like to even the odds a bit. After 7 games, he has a 300 rating, whereas the other players are between 150 and 200).

I see them being affected as Elves are very familiar with Chaos God's, Khaine and Slaneesh.

If the warband rating is that high already then it sounds like you don't need a 50/50.

The spirit of the rule seems to be a weakness. However, as written, it's a tremendous strength. This leads me to believe that the toughness rule should be removed.

However, changing rules mid-campaign sets a pretty bad precedent. I'd wait until after the campaign is over to make changes to the rules.
