A link?

I've been asked if some of the warbands could be included in an upcoming campaign not set in Mousillon. I've never looked at this setting and google isn't helping me find it.

The warbands are Maldred's Dark Grail and the Brigands. Anybody have any intel on these?

I don't have any experience on the warbands but I have all of the rules available if you want me to email you. PM me with your email address if you are interested and I'll email the rules for those two warbands through to you.

And now for something to whet your appetite... Wink

Brigands

Portrayed in peasant songs as dashing defenders of the low against the abuses of the high, the reality of the bands of brigands that infest the forests of Brettonia is a lot less proasic. Cutthroat, brigand, poacher, fugitive - all find refuge in the wild woods. They belong to those who have been driven from general society or those who choose to live outside its laws.

Brigands tend to identify themselves with the common folk and the peasantry and often they rely upon the support and protection of the local folks. But not all brigands come from the peasant class: there are tales of Brigand nobles and princes, disowned by their families, fighting guerillia wars against their former homeland. While no brigand objects to robbing from the rich, robbing from the poor is safer and easier as a rule.

As Mousillion started degrading, the brigands got fiercer, even more organised. A well-equipped mercenary group can be outclassed by the combination of tough veterans, guerrillas and unusual tactics.

The Disciples of Maldred

When Duke Maldred embarked on the grail quest he returned in an unusually short time. Even more amazing than this was the fact that he claimed to have brought back the actual chalice of the Lady of the Lake. He claimed that this was a portent of his kingship.

Many knights came to Mousillon to see the Holy Grail and compete in the tournaments held by Sir Maldred. To the overall winner of each tourney Maldred granted the right to sup from the sacred cup at a banquet held at the close of the day. In this way Grail Knights were made in the service of Maldred and not of the Lady of the Lake.

The legitimate Grail Knights and the Fay Enchantress denounced Maldred and his cup as false. They lay siege to the city and eventually it crumbled from within. The mystery surrounding the demise of Maldred and his fair city of Mousillon has been the cause of much speculation in the years since it fell into ruin. The damsels of the lady have called his chalice the "black grail" and it has been commonly known as the false grail. Nevertheless, so impressive was the display of Maldred and Malfluer that many believe it may have been the true grail and that Duke Maldred and his fair wife did not perish but live on in the land of the fey and will return to save Bretonnia in her darkest hour.

Now the rumors of another great chaos invasion have spread throughout the land. Indeed raids on villages in the north have already begun. Times like this will always bring new cults and the cult of Maldred has risen again. Prophets of Maldred visit the courts of Dukes and preach in the halls of the Barons. They rally questing knights to their cause and lead them into the city of Mousillon in search of Maldred's grail. They claim that when it is found and a new army of Grail Knights assembles in Mousillon that Duke Maldred will return to take his place at the front of the army and lead them to victory over the invading hordes.

Haven't played either of them. From what I've READ, I know some of the Mousillon warbands weren't quite balanced (ex. the Blood Knights) or necessarily that easy to understand (Knights Errant), but the Brigands and the Mordred guys look pretty fair and fun.

If anything, it seemed to suffer from "very interesting and inspired heroes, but completely blah henchman" syndrome.

Before you ask, it's a real disease. Look it up.

I have a PDF with all of the Mous bands on it, if you want a copy.

i only have experience with the Wood Elves from that. We made a slight change to them and had no problem with them in our group. We just dropped the crossfire rule and turned it into a special skill. I think we made the super stealth archer rule for the elder scouts also a special skill instead of standard. I think we in return gave them a bonus to find Elf Bows and Hunting Arrows. But can't remember.

My Norse Marauders were butchered by them until I finally started remembering to hide!

If so, why not break out the Bretonnian Buccanneers? Dueling Pistols for everyone!
