Longrifle for henchman

Anyone have any guess why the longrifle is only on the equipment list for the henchman and not the heros? It seems like an expensive weapon like that should go to the hands of a hero not a lowly henchman. I'm not about to throw 200gc to a henchman that has a 33% chance to lose it if he goes OOA. Or in the case of Ostander 300gc for a double.

Then wait until the henchman becomes a Hero (Lad's Got Talent) and then give him the rifle. Or simply pick the appropriate shooting skill for one of your Heroes.

when you get a marksman hero and you've bought everything else you could possibly need then its prob time to get a longrifle, that 200g can fund alot of weapons and bows for the entire warband. its more a luxury for sniping late into a campaign than a must have item imo.

Luckily of all henchmen to be worth 200-300gc, it's going to be the one in the tallest tower, farther away from all opponents. I doubt you have too much to worry about, he'll roll TLGT eventually. Plus, it makes the Ostlanders a rare group, with different strategies.

i'd purely use it for a Reiklander marksman who becomes a hero, stack some good shooting skills on him and he'll be a monster for picking off any enemy.
