Ok, with the vast knowledge and with everyone all around the world, can some people answer some simple questions?

Which miniatures from the various companies, are suitable for using in Mordheim?

Confrontation?
Alkemy?
Black Scorpion?
HORDES?

you can follow two schools here,
the insanely detailed and insanely pre-equipped,
or the insanely detailed unique looking model without much in way of equipment (excellent for campaigning)
I've found that lots of bits and a slight asymetric mini makes almost a perfect box art mini
(for example look at possesed merc ogre and pitfigher for nice balance between detail-asymetry-lack of predetermined equipment.)

Companies that work really really well in my experience are:
gamezone (for examples see imperial wizard/cleric/direwolves goblins and trolls etc etc etc)
Hasslefree (villagers/human sets, also makes excellent modern day stuff great for beefing out with additional equipment all around)
Warmachine/hordes and privateer press as a whole(see Fenris, Orin whats his name, Jeremiah Craye, GoreShade/epic and otherwise. Darragh Wrathe with a bit of GSing of cables to chainmail makes an excellent necromancer, the Gnarlhorn Satyr mini is awesome!)
Freebooter
Avatars of war (Heroes galore!)
MicroArt (makes awesome heads torsos and wings! and discworld minis ^__^ yay!)

Have a look around the CMON shop and let your imagination run haywire!
Dont be too afraid of a slight creep in any size direction as no two person is exactly the same size. Its even a great way to add personality without doing much else to the mini (if its doing up the base before sticking the mini on to make him taller or just shave of the sole of the shoes to make him an incriment shorter.)

I wonder if anyone has seen/used the Confrontation models. I would like to know if they are suitable for using in conversions with Mordheim. I have a lot of ideas, and some of those plastic models seem to LOOK like they would work, but, I don't want to use them if the plastic is that of the same caliber of the D&D Mini's, which is flimsy plastic that bends easily.

Anyone?

If the pictures on rackhams website is anything to go by I'd say they're made of good old solid and stable resin but feel free to shoot me in the foot with a heavy bolter if I'm mistaken.

Check black orc minis.

A common choice is Reaper too, and imo they have some of the BEST miniatures in the world.

Now, I have a question too:

Can anybody reccomend some wardogs for my witch hunter warband?

It appears as GW isn't selling them.

Thanks.

Warlord Games makes 28mm scale irish wolfhounds, Although I have a hard time judging the quality as they seem to have used some lumpy paint
too bad on the classic wardogs as they rocked (got a few blisters while they were still abundant.)
On that note I better order a few frenzied mobs while I have the chance...while I have my kidney transplant... Razz
On a second glance warlord makes pretty decent minis anyone have an idea on the acctual size on them?
(both mules and horses and dogs look a bit small-isch)
Updated again:
says 28mm Sleep

about 28mm... I lnow for some warbands it wouldn't be an issue, like orcs and humans, but would a 28mm elf look ridiculous? I saw this model

Suitable Alternatives for Mordheim Miniatures? Art08-10

and I would love to use it, but I'm concerned he'd stick out in a warband. Also, can you fit these guys on a small warhammer base? anything I use for mordheim I like to dual purpose into my WFB army, and if I can't fit it onto a small base, I can't use it.

Do you mean 32mm? All the GW stuff is actually (heroic) 28mm. So if this one is, too, it should not be a problem at all.

Hmm...

Hell Dorado
Reaper
Crocodile Games

As for Confrontation, I love those models - some of the best. They are a touch taller, yes, but close enough that you don't notice a big difference. Their forms are a little more exagerated, but in a fantasy game who cares right? I use a lot of Rackham's minis for Mordheim and use them as my heroes for Warhammer.

Finally! Someone that has used them and likes them! Elthorien, did you use the metal min's or the plastic pre-painted ones? I was wondering on the quality of the plastic mini's painting.

THANKS!!!

I use the metal ones and love them. As for the pre-paints, they're actually a little smaller then GW I think (haven't bought 'em but seen them in stores). I do not like the quality of those at all, personally. But the Legends line (what they call their metal minis) is fantastic.

Hmm, interesting. I have a chance to pick up a few units for a decent price. The almost any of the boxed sets of units for 10 dollars. Is that worth it? I would use a lot for conversions and such, and use some for some missing pieces to some warbands. Like the Wolf Fangs Attachment Box, with 3 units in it for the 10 dollars. They seem to be nice miniatures, and the models would go well as a Wulfen, or even as a conversion for a Rat Ogre.

Thoughts?

Well - like I said they're not for me. But I've never actaully bought / used any - so I'm up for being proved wrong. I heard that if you drop them in paint thinner, then glue wears out quickly and you can dissasemble them with ease. Also, the paint on them acts much like a primer and you can paint them up right away.

Hey, if it's a good deal - might as well go for it and try them out.

Let us know what you think.

Question - Thos plastic mini's aren't the same type of plastic as D&D Mini's (flimsy) are they? I want sturdy plastic, like GW.

Not sure - but I believe the Rackham plastics actually use three different plastics in their builds depending on the sections being done. I've heard they are sturdy.
