I started up a fledgling 40k witch hunter army but only got as far as a couple of HQ choices before I decided to move onto Mordheim, thought I might as well post up what I managed so far. This was my first bit of painting since I'd given up about 9 years previously and I've vastly improved since painting up these guys (my Mordheim stuff'll be up fairly soon!)
Group shot:

Acolyte (minimal amount of greenstuffing) oh and his name, Gerard, will only make sense if you're as much of a die hard fan of British comedy "Peep Show" as I am:

Scratch built servo-skull (based around an old undead skull I had with some clock parts added):

Witch Hunter with power sword swapped for an axe:
Spoiler:
Witch hunter lord Bannon, he's mounted on a horse but there aren't any rules about mounted witch hunters, I just did it because I thought it would look cool. He's an empire warrior priest crossed with a LOTR Morgul knight:

But I wasn't expecting the INQUISITION...affraid

Cool minis, VERY! The Cherub & the Home-Grown Servo Skull are REALLY well done. There's a certain attraction/repulsion thing about the Inquisition with, at least, moi, but the minis are UNDENIABLY cool. You did a splendid job capturing the sinister feel of the subject. AND I LOVE the bases. BRAVO! thumbsup

THE QUESTION: Do you have a source for the clock parts? I've been going nuts [Okay, I started out NUTS Suspect ] for quite awhile trying to find a source of gears & the like.

Thanks for the compliments guys! As for the clock parts; in the UK we have things called car boot sales where people turn up in their cars and just sell stuff they don't need out of the boot (trunk) of their cars, it's basically a good place to get 2nd hand stuff cheaply. I went to one of those and just bought a bunch of clocks that looked like they'd be old enough to have brass parts, dismantled them and voila! Plenty of brass gears, cogs, keys and springs to play with! Useful for anyone with a vague leaning towards steampunk Smile
My favourite part from a clock is the one on the back of the servo-skull, have no idea what it's called though!
I definitely get what you mean about the combination of attraction and repulsion, they represent something I have no end of hatred for (let's not get into that) but I love the imagery behind it! Very Happy

Not having commented on these minis, and being convinced that they deserve to be seen by a wide public again, I will do so now.

Great work! The idea of a mounted Inquisitor is very cool, as is the model (now, I have to say that, don't I?)

Their grim style is very cool. Do they belong to a certain faction?

cheers mate, no they don't really belong to any faction; I just painted them up as I like the models, not for any gaming purposes.

Since I generally consider GW's Designers' ideas of what constitutes cool background fluff as so much bovine excrement, &, consequently, ignore it, I can appreciate the Witch Hunters for what they are; i.e., VERY cool minis with a VERY STRANGE Blanchesque dark & sinister feel to them. Painting stuff just because you think it's cool is the ULTIMATE in painting enjoyment, AND, almost invariably, shows in the quality of the finished mini. VERY WELL DONE! thumbsup

This may sound silly but do Witchhunters have their own Codex fo r40K?

Thanks very much guys! Yeah the witch hunters have their own codex as do the daemon hunters, WH inquisitors are more the traditional style with the hats (like my guys) and they have sisters of battle in their armies whereas the DH inquisitors are generally pretty beefy with lots of armour, they have the grey knights at their disposal.

You can even get the Demon Hunters and Witch Hunters codices for free on the GW website, as they are currently OOP. (at least in Germany).

That's why I suggest having an Inquisitor & Retinue for Death Squads, too Very Happy

There was some talk of having a third in the Inquisition Codexes; i.e., the Ordo Xenos or Alien Hunters. They're sort of a 40K Border Patrol & about as palatable. Suspect
