| I always love looking through new campaign settings mostly for the new warband ideas. Anyway, I was checking through The Restless Dead, and I had a couple of questions about the Bone Goliath. I did a search of the BTB document and this forum, but didn't find any answers, so I apologize if these were indeed answered elsewhere. Anyway, on to the questions... The Bone Goliath is listed under the Hired Sword section. Does this mean: 1. He (well, I suppose being undead, the Bone Goliath has neither a sex or gender) has no upkeep cost, only the 225 gc +D3 Liche wounds build cost? 2. Speaking of the D3 Liche wounds build cost, I'm confused about the "Assembly" special rule, namely the last sentence: "Warbands starting with a Bone Goliath can ignore this rule, unless of course they make one to replace a fallen Goliath." Does this refer to the entire "Assembly" rule? From a grammar and logic standpoint, I would think so because if it were simply in reference to the preceeding sentence ("A warband that has no Liche to lead it may not construct a Bone Golath, but if the Liche dies after its construction, the Bone Goliath is unaffected."), that wouldn't make any sense at all. 3. Similar to first question, if the Bone Goliath is a hired sword, does that mean he does not count against the warband max size and also doesn't count when determining how much gc is acquired when selling wyrdstone? 4. Lastly, does anyone have any conversion ideas for a Bone Goliath? I'm having trouble finding a big skeleton in the GW line, but I haven't looked in any other mini line. I don't think the giant skeleton from the Skaven line (Bone Ripper?) would work, assuming a more human and less ratman look was desired. | |

Yes. There is no upkeep cost listed so he doesn't have any. Once you built the Goliath there's no need to "pay" or "feed" it any further. That's the "fluff" the Assembly rule is trying to get across. - KorgakGrimtooth wrote:

Actually I am not sure either. Since I didn't write these rules I can't tell for sure. What I can say is that the rules work very well if you simply ignore that last sentence.. - KorgakGrimtooth wrote:

Yes, of course. There's no sense in counting the Goliath as a warband member and having it decrease your income (which goes by logic of the warband members needing supplies and pay, which is nonsense in the case of the Goliath). The Bone Goliath is listed in the Hired Swords section so he is treated like a one. - KorgakGrimtooth wrote:

Bone Giants from Warhammer. But they are rather huge. They will make for a reasonable basis I guess...

| Awesome, thanks!
I guess regarding question two, the rule doesn't apply if the Bone Goliath is made at warband creation. Afterall, 225 gc out of 500 gc is a lot to pay, and paying an additional D3 wounds might be too much.
I was mostly curious about the Hired Sword status because I can't think of a Hired Sword that doesn't have an upkeep.

| Thanks Fallen! I wonder if that's what the Bone Goliath's accompanying picture refers to. | |

| This site has two undead ogre minis although I don't know where to get them. I have been trying to get one for a while. If you find a source let me know. | |
