| Hi folks, hope you're all well! Another post, just to show you the models that I've collected towards my Reiklander warband... Firstly, we have the Captain (centre,) and Heroes (either Side.) Next-up, Four Marksmen armed with bows (for gaming purposes, they fight in two groups of two.) And then Three Marksmen armed with Crossbows Again (as with my Middenheimers) the models are at a 'Work In Progress' stage, and should be ready to skirmish sometime in the new year... And again, if anyone could recommend some names for the fighters, or the groups of fighters... it'd be greatly appreciated! Rich | |

| I'm really glad you post so many minitures. Keep it up The captain looks perfectly like a noble, who is more the head of the warband than the one who does the killing. Exectly what I expect of a Reikland-captain. So thumbs up for your choice of models! | |

| Wow... nice archers! I like the way they seem to seek cover while trying to shoot their arrows... Good choice! Are these Norse models as well? I don't like the hero in chainmail though... mmh in fact I don't like the chainmail! Hey, what's your warband roster? I see you have 7 shooters and 3 CC fighters... you wanna play "shooty"!!! I like that! Can't wait to see them painted! | |

| I like the fact that you don't use GW models. It makes your warband unique. hutty up and start painting and if you need advice feel free to ask. | |

| Thanks for the replies and the kind words guys!
The archers are awesome models, I really love the fact that they're wearing long, flowing overcoats, and they're in awesome poses... so that they can be hidden better in the ruins... they are infact old Bretonnian Squires With Bows figures...
For the captain, you're spot-on Erkwin, I was going-for a Figurehead leader really... he's not much of a fighter, more a tactitioner, he over-sees the skirmish, shouting orders from some hiding-place in amidst the rubble.
And also Tortiou, now that you mention it, the chainmail-clad hero... I don't like the chainmail look on this figure either, it hasn't been sculpted very well... I may well have to get the Green Stuff out!
I'll get a warband roster sorted sometime later today!
Rich
edit - Yes indeed, I love playing 'shooty!'

| Right then... my proposed initial roster for the warband would be as follows;
Mercenary Captain armed with a Sword ------------- 70GC
2 Champions armed with Swords & Shields ------- 100GC
3 Marksmen armed with Crossbows ----------------- 150GC
4 Marksmen armed with Longbows ------------------ 160GC
Which means I've currently spent 480GC - twenty spare...
The captain is somewhat meagerly equipped, this is to represent his character as a more 'stand back and bark orders, rather than fight' leader... however, would I do best to equip him with some form of protection/armour?
Any thoughts, comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated... How would you equip this group of models?

| A Reiklander captain needs to shoot. I'd definetly give him a bow or pistol. The way your warband is set up it would be a shame to exclude your captain from the merry shoot-fest. What do you expect him to do if he "stands back"? I think he should also get a shot at the enemy. Remember: XP comes from kills! (I can't believe I am advising someone to camp and shoot... it's the Wood Elf genes speaking. Damn it! ) | |

| Hmm, I think it's quite hard to make a good warband out of the models. They have a perfect look, but as you said, they have a lack of good equipment too. I would definatly take one or even two youngbloods, they cost only 15gc so you could still buy one and give him a club for another 3gc. Still, this warband will look absolutly unique and cool, and I'm eagerly awaiting pics of the painted models Btw this could help ypu to generate all sorts of names: http://www.behindthename.com/random/ | |

| Yeah, I think your captain needs another weapon... why not a pistol? Comes in handy sometimes! On the other hand, as erkwin said, you could enlist a youngblood ang give him a mace for only 18 gc. This guy may seem weak but it's another hero (very important when you roll on the exploration chart!) and his stats will raise very quickly! I would suggest you go for the youngblood. Even if your equipment is a little scarce, you will always have the opportunity to buy some later on after your first victories! (then you could use one of your boys from the "random models" section) | |

| And once more Erkwin has the perfect link ready @ Ashton: Isn't "Skriiiiiik" a popular Skaven name? No, seriously, maybe that generator helps. I would also recommend opening a medical dicitonnary or microbiology book and making variations of disease/pathogen names found in there. e.g. Pestis, Anthraccus, Salmonellio etc etc etc | |

They all sound like funny Maltese words Pestis = Rude Boy (or pestiz = Cheese cake) Salmonellio = sounds like salmonella (a desease which comes from eggs)

| Ok, ok, sorry if this sounds nerdy, but I HAVE to put this straight Bacteria cause the disease and as a result you are ill. A bacterium per se is not a disease. | |

| hahah Tom, great idea.
I know it is for human names, but I figured some might come up with skaven-sounding names...
I checked it a bunch, and didn't see any I liked right off...
These are some "maybes":
Ottokar (german)
Some human language has got to be harsh enough for skaven. Truthefully, I don't know a lot about the skaven culture, so I dont' know what names are "skaven names"
Any ideas? ( should probably start my own topic instead of changing Rich's Topic lol, but too late... srry rich)
thanks, ash | |
