What I mean here is when you click respond in a thread you can see only about 4 or 5 responses before yours to quote if you haven't already quoted stuff or copy and pasted it to a separate word document/window. I would love to see the ability to scroll through those responses before you so you can view all the responses so as you can quote more directly without the aid of additional windows on the same topic needing to be open.

What do you all think of this?

Luke.

Counterquestion: Did you ask the almighty Admin Tom if this can be even changed? If not, I wonder what the point of this poll is. What's the use of us coming to the conclusion that we all want to have the scroll ability but it cannot be technically implemented?

Aside from that, yes, I would love to see something like that. In fact, I found myself looking for older replies quite often and was annoyed that they were not listed. I think that once you click to preview your post even less previous posts are shown.

Now let's see what Tom says about this.

Counter to the counter-question:

Opinion Box
You have ideas that might improve this forum? Don't keep them to yourself!

I could have PM'ed Admin Tom if it occured to me. However, the Opinion Box Sub Forum states to share any and all ideas with everyone. therefore, if we have ideas, by your reasoning cianty we should just forward everything to Admin Tom and forget about this Sub Forum altogether?

To the reason for opening this here, asides from the above, I admin a forum on the invisionfree boards, and I do know we can implement a scrolling response there. I know that the Privateer Press Forums have a similar thing but they also have the really nifty ability to scroll down and then hit quote on the scrolled down responses that you want to quote and it automatically quotes it into the bottom of your open response you are currently writing. A couple of other forum domains also have very similar options, so rather then it being a stupid assumption and just cracking it here without thinking about the feasibility of the idea first, I actually thought about it briefly. If it is not possible then it's not possible on this forum host and we deal with it by cracking extra tabs/word documents et al. It's not a big deal, it's just a little more convenient if you are responding across 1 or 2 pages of thread with multiple responses to multiple responses already posted.

Ram.

This is a technical question so asking for the feasibility of your request seems intuitional to me. It may not to you. If you have a look at the other threads in this forum you will see that actually very few have technical concerns like this one but most are about contents. Therefore my reasoning does not render this forum useless.

Now I'm not gonna run into further pointless arguments with you

I'm very sorry Ram, but I'll have to agree with Cianty on this one.
first of all, notice that this is NOT an invisionfree board. The privateer press, and your forum are both Invisionfree boards. you might haven't thought it trough, but options aren't always the same on different forums.

second of all, Cianty never said you shouldn't use this forum for any constructive criticism, but, as he said already, this is a technical problem, and it might not be able to do on this forum.

Thanks for the suggestion Ram!
As Cianty said, it would have been easier to contact me first via PM (just for the future, so you know).

I know, this inability to scroll down more than 4-5 posts has annoyed me aswell. Good point.

I will look into it straigt away.

All right, update.

The bad news.

Unfortunately what you requested cannot be done on this forum. Technically speaking.

The good news.

I added a function for "Quick Reply" at the bottom of the page. This way you can reply while having an overview of all the most recent posts at your disposal to check up on stuff.

Don't forget that you always have the "Right click --> Open in new Tab" option in your bowser if you need to quote multiple people.

I hope that somewhat solves the problem.

Cheers,
Admin Tom
