Hey, I was just curious if there is anyone here who listens to Ska-P?
And if yes, how do you like the new album?

I used to listen to Ska-P quite a lot last year, but more to "practise" my spanish than out of political reasons Wink

Anyway, I thought they split up... what's the new album called?

[EDIT]: Answer to my own question:
The almighty Wikipedia wrote:

In April 2008 the band confirmed they were getting back together and on September 5th, 2008 released the single "Crimen sollicitationis". This was followed in October 2008 by a new album, Lágrimas y Gozos (Tears and Joys), which was released on October 7, 2008.

For some time, I listened to Ska-P almost every day (back when I was 16 (uh, those ancient times Wink ) and now I am hooked again. Hopefully, I will manage to attend one of the two concerts in Germany next year.

Used to, when I was 16 or so. Never liked them much, but they had their moment back then. No idea about their album. I had no idea they were still together.

Cheers,

Xavi

Entre 'l Atlántico y 'l mar Mediterráneo,
Hay una tierra de mar y mucho sol,
Que desde antaño, se viene practicando
Una asquerosa y sucia tradición!

Well, here I am, bruised and exhausted after an awesome concert and a night at Munich main station, followed by an 9 hour train ride from 5.04 am to quarter past 2... but it was well worth it!

The concert was so great. As a warm-up band, Irie Revoltes (a Reggae/Hiphop/Ska/Dancehall formation from Heidelberg) did a great half an hour show and we were able to get right in front of the stage (which was later VIP area, so not everyone could get in there when Ska-P had their turn). However, we were somewhat crushed amongst the masses which were waving to and fro, so we had to fight our way back for about 2 tracks to be able to breathe again Wink But there, we had a lot of space to dance, and it was still only 5 or 10 m from the stage so we were able to watch the show closely.

The music was of course great and the show was a real pleasure. One of the guys dressed-up according to the songs - he was a police man, torture victim (Welcome to Hell), Rey Carlos (Simpatico Holgazan), a priest (Crimen Solicitationis) etc. (those who have already seen a Ska-P concert will know, I suppose), which was quite funny Smile

After about two hours of great music and crazy dancing, they said goodbye, but returned to play the great Intifada (which saw the most fans singing along as loud as they could from all tracks played) and Fuego y Miedo (from the new album) for the encore to exhaust everyone to the last.

All in all a great experience, and I think I'll go again if I get the chance. It was still not as good as dancing with Panteon Rococo on the stage, but close Smile

I'm the only guy here who doesn't like Ska-P?

When i was 13...14... i loved, but now, knowing things about they (Like they went to a multinacional discography, their collaborations with the 'SGAE' [The spanish version of RIAA] and their attitude of 'New riches'...) i can't stand them. Musically too

If you love Ska-P, you can try the basques Skalariak or the catalonians Skatalà, Skaparrapid, Dr Calypso or Contratempo. Give them a try searching something at youtube.

Ska-P is "easy listening" and a quite entertaining way of learning a little bit of spanish, since their melodies are simple and catchy. Those were my main reasons to listen to them.

I try to ignore their somewhat simplistic political views.
