Does anyone know how to make those cutaway water bases where some of the base is underwater but with a bit of cross-section? Like this one (it's got a naked lady so I've spoilered it...never know who you'll offend! Sorry it was the only example I could find on CMON):
Spoiler:

I'm guessing you have to make some sort of mold and then pour the water effect into that but how o you make the mold?

I read somewhere how to do this kind of things... I suppose it was either in an issue of WD or in the Scenery & Terrain guide of GW... I'll see if I can find it (and find the time to look for it)

Oh wow, brilliantly done!

on the making of... you would need to make a mold (case around your painted model) with SMOOTH SOLID surface, to avoid the material to stick to it., then you pour your water effect in, layer by layer (be aware of shrinkage) when you are happy with the level of the water, remove the mold et voila.

Those models used clear resin, not water effect. It dries very differently although application is done the way described already.
