No, in Europe we haven't been sleeping anymore since the ratification of the Uppsala treaty (Sweden), signed by all the member states of the EU in 2002.
Since 2002, beds have been banned from European households. In fact, the possession of a bed is punishable by up to 3 years of prison and falling asleep by a custodial sentence of up to 2 years, along with a fine of up to €3000 (= $4350), and can even lead to the revocation of your couch-owning license.
The Uppsala treaty was a humanitarian measure passed by the European Union aiming at supporting south american coffee export by local farmers. Simultaneously the EU sought to boycott the North Corean pillow industry for political reasons.

I have the same problem only it's a self enforced addiction. I drink enough coffee to be on ALL of South America's Christmas Card list. I can't blame this one on George Bush, although I blame him for just about EVERYTHING ELSE.
BTW, my old dog Travers once ate a queen size box spring, mattress, a stereo, his own bed, & a four pound box of chocolates in a single evening. It's a dog thing.

| Chocolate *CAN* kill dogs. I don't know what it depends upon... but sometimes, chocolate just gives them a ridiculous sugar rush. my friends dog at an entire easter basket (chocolate, wrappers, basket,... EVERYTHING) and spent the rest of easter running in circles around couches and people...

As I remember it [this is going back some thirty six years], it, the chocolate that is, all came out in the end, if you catch my drift. Old Crazy Linda, my ex, however was tempted to kill the dog.
As far as pets go, I love them all: dogs, cats, birds. With me there's an immediate bonding. Probably because we're on the same intellectual & emotional channel. |
