Cathayan Borderlands scenery (WIP+Completed)

Overview
This thread is dedicated to the scenery and terrain pieces that I create for my Cathayan borderlands gaming table. Because of the length of this thread I included an overview here that takes you right to the various scenery projects. Enjoy!

Tree Base - A little terrain feature (see below)
Forest Section - A wooded corner hill
Forest Section II - A snowy forest section
Snowy Barricades - Snow-clad scenic pieces to improve the board
Snowy Barricade III: The Fallen Tree - Another snow-clad barricade
Chaos Tree - The one from Micro Art Studio
The Barrow (Ghartok's Tomb) - [finished] - Special terrain feature for the Border Town Burning setting
Ghartok's Tusks - A three-piece-set of rocks
Tunnel Tiles - Underground tiles for a specific scenario from the Border Town Burning supplement
Forest Entrance sections - Scenery pieces for the Tainted Copse scenario from the Border Town Burning supplement

Tree base

When I started playing Warhammer back then I thought it would be cool to have some nice scenery while shoving the regiments across the board. So I bought a tree. Unfortunately I was the only one willing to spend money on anything that is not directly part of one's army so my nice tree was very lonesome. To make things worse, he was one of those model making trees which usually have a small base of rootage so he couldn't even stand on his own. So my lonely tree took refuge inside a plastic bag and disappeared...

...until two days ago. I found my nice tree again and thought it was about time he got a proper base to stand on. You gotta know, he is a pretty huge tree actually, but he never quite got the chance to rise above the sucker fir trees. I said to myself "now's the time" and started making a small hill...

I put the tree's original base directly on the hill. Sand, stones, additional roots made of Green Stuff and two mushrooms from the Warhammer Nightgoblin sprue were added as decoration.

Pva and sand is always a winner for a base. Sturdy and durable.

In the Cathayan Borderlands a Battle Monks warband encounters a small group of animated Terra Cotta Soldiers guarding an old temple.

This is a very cool post: taking a tree & progressing to its inclusion in a battle scene. BRAVO! Very nice work on both The Tree & the warband. The Tree is somewhat the center piece of the group, I think [occasionally] you really should name it. Is The Tree a Woodland Scenics?

Forest section

I received my package from MICROCONSTRUCT yesterday. Lots and lots of trees, I really like the Ziterdes trees a lot! So these cool fir trees will also get their own base soon.

Excellent; we'll soon have a regular forest to gawk at. Now you just need some woodland creatures, BIG, NASTY, CARNIVOROUS, WOOD LAND CREATUES [from HELL].

So get cracking!

Oh, and the trees look good too.

Ha, I've got the same trees, they are really nice and I bought them for a very reasonable price.
I like Ziterdes Terrain a lot.

Mmmmh that's a nasty little stain of black paint you have on your wooden table (left of your pic)... I hope you'll manage to rub it away!

Thanks, folks! I have just finished the terrain piece but it's too dark here to make proper pics so you'll have to live with these WIP shots I made yesterday.

@stain: This stain is very very old. I don't even notice it anymore. LOL. I never tried to rub it off seriously, probably should have done back then. It's my desk, but I rarely use it ever for anythong (other than loading all sorts of stuff on it).

VERY NICE! AND very quick bit of creativity; you're really quite the prolific modeler. I am SO envious of your ability to take & transmit such great photos.
