This terrain piece is looking great Ashton! I really like the realistic way the building collapsed. Smile

Looking forward to see it finished!

Okay, I've turned this into my WIP thread, cause I'm doing like 15 things, and don't want to make a new thread for everything. Here's some random terrain I'm working on right now:

First a Modular Fence Idea (there are two sections in each picture):

i'm also making a small "planter" for some tree stumps and other plants:

I'm also following in the footsteps of our venerable leader and going to make a board out of pink foam. I've been testing out some different types of cobble stones/brick/etc. patterns.

(The most observant person wins 3 salutes from me)

More to come.

Nice little scenery bits Ash!

You can salute me 3x anytime you want. It says "Ashton" in the cobble stones Smile

Oh yeah! "Ashton" - didn't notice it at first...

I think you should choose the cobble stone patterns because they look more "irregular" than the brick ones. but that's my personal opinion, and maybe I'm saying this because I spent something like 10 hours engraving these cobble stones on a board once....

the fences are coming along well. If I remember correctly, you don't like bases with your buildings, but in this instance I think it would be a good idea to add one for the extra strength.

if your opponents happen to be anything like mine, stuff will get broken [and it always happens to be mine, even though i try toughen mine up...] so the exra strength from even a thin base will take a lot of strain from off the joins on the fence.

anyway... it was just a thought.

Nice Ashton,

I'd also go with the cobble stone. I like that a lot.

The fences look good. It's always great to have such bits of scenery to liven up the gaming board.

Hey Ashton, listen to The Man. If the fence is bordering a road, it would be raised at least slightly anyway; plus you could add some nice little detailing to the ground work. AND most gamers ARE Ham-fisted Oafs, as thatirwinfella [is that an Elven name?] pointed out. You've got to take care of your toys, with the exception of that Flaming Dog House [FROM HELL].

I enjoy ghosting through your Morheim site, but putting your WIP stuf up in a single thread here is a great idea. Beautiful work, WELL DONE, AMIGO! thumbsup

Thanks for all the comments guys

Actually, I'm planning on doing all of them randomly across the board. They are all different enough to add a lot of details to the board, and since it's flat you can still put buildings anywhere, and should still look good (since the buildings don't have bases =])

thatirwinfella wrote:

I hear your argument, but call it foolish ignorance, I just don't agree. I've played one game with these fences (at the stage they are in the picture, and the only problem was a couple of them kept falling over (because I hadn't added the bracing yet.) They are pretty solid though (lots of PVA), and I don't see them breaking very easily.

But hey, if any of them do break, I'll give you (and all those who agree with him) props for being right... but until then, I'll be right =]

DeafNala wrote:

Yes, that's on my to-do list (but not with a base). Details double as bracing to keep the fence from falling over... You know what I just realized?

I am the Anti-Base Nazi

I'm also working on a sweet update (hopefully I'll post today)

I really hope for you that you are refering to the "Soup Nazi" character created by Jerry Seinfeld and this is not a political statement.

lol

Well I don't know the exact scale of "obsessive rule follower" but if I remember correctly, starting from the best to the worst the list is like:

Nazi
Guru
Avid
Slacker
Shmuck

(I'm missing a couple... but you get the idea)

And since I don't think I could be any more "anti-basing", I'm a "Anti Base Nazi." Other examples include: Halo Guru, Mordheim Shmuck, Avid Dancer, etc.

I'm working on my next Pink Foam "urban hill"

This one is larger, and will also have railings around the edges. First stage of construction:

That’s some great scenery you’ve got there Ashton, I particularly love the idea and execution of the collapsed tower. Think I’ll be adding that one to the inspiration folder, if you don’t mind!?

This looks very promising, Ashton! From what you've already shown with your other works I expect this to be looking incredible once it's finished. Keep us posted!
