| Do you think that Skaven is Overpowered?
I've played Skaven for one campaign in 99, and did well with the giant rat swarm. None of us really had any tactics, and I really didn't think anyone was overpowered/underpowered.
What are your thoughts? _________________ -Ashton Sanders -Mordheim in Montana Blog |

| Thanks for your votes so far... Can an admin add a "Meh. I really have no idea." option to the poll? as requested by PD...
I tried editing it... but to no avail.

| I have never encountered them to be overpowerfull.
Yes they have some nasty stuff, but not all powerfull.
Their ld makes up for a lot of it. |

| Not to get too off topic, but I've seen a lot of complaints about "Nurgles Rot" on random forums. I saw the rules for the rot today. Wholly crap. It's a crazy "disease."
Basically, it costs 50 gold and if it infects a character, which is pretty hard to do. They basically need to roll a 6 to hit you, and then you're infected, and you have to take a toughness check every Game you play, if you lose the check, you lose 1 toughness. when u hit zero. ur character dies.
Kindof crazy/sucky, but I'd have to play against it a couple times to really see. _________________ -Ashton Sanders -Mordheim in Montana Blog |

| I play Skaven, and I do not think they are over-powered. The warband, if done & played right, it can be overwhelming at the beginning of a campaign or in single games. As the campaign progresses, the growth curve kindda stagnates (compare to other warbads) and other catch up and even pass the Skaven's power and effectiveness pretty quickly. At the end of a long Campaign, the sheer voracity of the Skavens' high numbers is no match the combination of higher stats and equipment other warbands can muster.
Just like the Possessed & Undead warbands... they are VERY underpowered for the first couple of games, but once they get some experience... WATCH OUT! If they survive many games, at the end of a long campaign they can take and eat the rats with minimal difficulty. Then the challenge is to take advantage of the terrain and tactics to win. That is what is fun. |

| They are quite over-powered for me... It depends on the way you play them, and on the terrain... They are very efficient in most of the scenarios... But the over-powerness is not evident on the campaign results, so or skaven's players are not very good, the over-powerness is just an appearance ! _________________ "And if Sigmar was just a myth.?." |

| Skaven is a fast-starter band ...very strong due to numbers, 6 starting heroes and cheap good value-for-money equipment such as slings ...but its my impression that in the longer run the other warbands catch up ...
But yes ...for the first 1-5 games skaven are scary ... _________________ He who gathers money little by little makes it grow. - Proverbs 13:11 (Dwarven Treasure Hunters)

| Their leadership might be wank but let's face it folks, the costings are ALL WRONG!!
I can live with it in a campaign though, especially one with really exciting scenarios...
...game on.

| Skaven can be challenging: 1) Six heroes to start with 2) Thus generate usually more gold. 3) One hero is a Scorcer. 4) Have numbers. I saw something about Nurgle's Rot. I personally do not allow COC warbands. They are nice but if someone really insisted on letting them use COC warband the Plague Cart would be taken out and Nurgle's Rot would be toned down. |

| I might be a little late to comment on this one, but I thought I'd add my two cents.
While I don't think they are significantly "cheesy", I voted for "overpowered" for two reasons:
1) They all have high movement - this, in addition to their six heroes, means that they tend to get more wyrdstone than other warbands (since they can take the money and run in scenarios with wyrdstone.treasure counters)
2) They all have higher than average initiative. Initiative is FAR more important in Mordheim than it is in Warhammer, though the costs seem to reflect how they perform in Warhammer rather than Mordheim.
So, I feel that their costs are based more on Warhammer - where initiative is little used and where cavalry is FAR more prevalent.
Still, they're not as bad as Shadow Warriors... |

| Withouht house rules, well played Skavens are overpowered from the begining to the end of a campaing.
At the begining you can outnumber any warband with warriors that can move across the map in 4 turn, shoot at 18' and put a reasonable fight in CC. Heck for like 30g you get a rat with a sling and 2 decent weapon (club dagger). What else do you need?? Add the fact that you can start with 6 heroes and it makes em unbeatable in the long run because of huge money income. (and replacing casualities is cheap) A good skaven player can keep on beating an opponent while growing strong. It can be trully un-fun. |

| Skaven have the best list, I think and so it is no Problem to win with it, but they become boring after a time. I knew a few Skaven-Player, who make some crazy thinks with the Warbands. An Rat-Ogre at begin or a List without Slings and only Clanrats an heros an so on.
But I also think, tha there are many other great Warbands and a few verry bad ones. |

| i ve been playing with skaven and they have 2 faces: at first they have a lot of good thinks: slings very cheap, models very cheap, powerfull and cheap heroes and it can play with 12 or 13 models well equiped and all with slings (two rangeds at shrot distance) but they have less leadership than others, and they have a lot of problems with fear and running checks, but in my opinion they are the most enjoy warband of mordheim, they are very fast and can jump better. i think they are right powerfull |

| Leadership is not THAT much of an issue. I mean, as long as you keep your warriors grouped, they dont have to do 'all alone' test, and because the warband is so huge, you rarely get to do rout tests first.
The only problem is fear as you said. BUt I cant tell because I've always played agaisnt mercenary/skavens warband and nothing such as possesed or undeads. |
