EDIT 2-14-09:DISBANDED & DECONSTRUCTED

Alright.

While I was applying green stuff to my new Liche, I figured I would also GS the Beastmen I'd assembled months ago. Below is the fruit of my labor. The idea is that these are Ultra-Feral Beastmen, so I removed all the loincloths and replaced them with more fur. Keeping with this theme I wrote my list with these 5 Heroes and 5 Hounds. I have yet to purchase the hounds but they'll be out soon.

Beastmen Chieftain

VERY COOL BEASTIES!

They're kind of Satyr looking guys; much more like I'd picture Beastmen. The Shaman is especially cool. A bit of Green Stuffing on the Centigor would do wonders to avoid the appearance of a mare or gelding Suspect . VERY WELL DONE!thumbsup

Very cool! That is a very cool idea for beastmen modifications. With your painting skills I know this warband is gonna look o-some!

The Shaman's pose is very apropriate for the model and he looks like he has a long beard, which makes him look even more authentic.

Now IF I may be a little critical, however, then I'd like to say that I am not a fan of only using "normal" bits from the Beastmen box for a Mordheim warband. There is nothing really that distinguishes the Chieftain from a Bestigor (okay, they're both elite gors and somewhat similar, but a Chieftain is a huuuge monster of a Gor champ) and those from the normal Gors. Since Bestigors get the first pick for weapons and armour from the horde's monolith they should look way different to normal Gors. These models all look like Gors to me. For the Shaman that is cool because you can really tell he is a Shaman when you look at the model, but the others look like normal Gors. I really like the furry/feral/wild approach to a Beastmen warband, but I'm sure you can come up with something "special" for the Heroes to make them look cooler and more powerful than the lowely gors. Maybe an extra arm for a Bestigor. I can imagine green-stuffing huuuuge antlers for the Chieftain would look cool and support the warband's theme.

Alright now. Please don't take this wrongly. I'm a huge fan of your work and as an admirer of your Undead warband I know you can turn this into a very special and characterful warband. I do look forward to the next update. Smile

Awe-some!

I agree with Cianty that the chieftain needs a little something more to mark his status over the henchmen.

And the shaman could also use a few "arcane" indicators... like little runestone pendants or something similar.

Apart from that, fabulous work so far (especially on the Centigor)!

These are all great points. The Chieftain does need some additional indicators of his status. So far the only ones are that his size and horns are slightly larges than the others. As for the Shaman, I did leave all of the charms and beads tied in his pelt. I suppose I could add some more, but that would be it. I was going super-minimalist when I made these guys and I only used plastic bits because the metal Bestigors are too busy with clothing and equipment for my theme.
Thanks for the comments.

Alright, with reluctance to change my theme, I pondered my Chieftain's appearance and made a few modifications. I decided to increase his look from feral to voodoo cannibalistic. I did not, however change anything about the "Gor" looking Bestigors. I looked at many other Bestigor models online and saw that there was little difference in size. In fact the only difference between the Bestigor models and the Gor models are the armor and equipment. I think the reason that my Bestigors look like Gors is simply because their naked, stripped of armor. I prefer that look for all my Mordheim projects. My basic interpretation of Mordheim warbands is that they are the desperate, crazy and poor, otherwise they would have the sense to steer clear of the infamous city. In the case of my Beastmen, I imagine that they are a fringe warband, rejected by the seven major herdstone clans, meaning they had no access to good equipment. They simply survive by killing.

Adding some "trophies" enhances the mini nicely without compromising your theme. VERY NICE WORK! thumbsup .
Now you just need to add some dead Elf bits & maybe a few Warrior Monk skulls.Suspect

That's definately better than before. It's good to be able to tell a difference between models. Individualism is what Mordheim is all about.

As always awesome conversions! I might try something like that myself one day...

I like how you spiced up the chief, too, prefer the open hand to the one with the bone in it, though. It looks more like he is going to cut you head right into two. But don't feel bullied to change it yet again Wink

Excellent stuff, I like the original pose of the leader as well. But rcognize the need for some bits to make him stand out. How about a flaggon or jug of bugmans XXXXX for the centigor!
