I apologise for the pic quality. I know, it could be better, but I promise, as soon as I get home, I'll take better pictures

Well, what can I say, as usual it is fascinating how you create a great, wonderful model with a simple, but impressive painting scheme.

| aaaaargh...
those bloody orcs gave me a rough time... I remember one battle when we all had to rescue a princess (hiding in the center building)... I had positioned my Reiklanders in the building, my archers were ready, my elven ranger (HS) was ready, my captain had his pistol locked and loaded... and then THESE ORCISH BASTARDS came rushing into the building! Tom just shot at my Reiks with bows and managed to kill a lot of them. I was outraged!
Anyway, now when I look at them with their redish paintings and their skulls and their muscles, I'm afraid! And still having nightmares! (mummyyyyyyy)

| Ah yes... that time when I stormed the building with all I had. A game to remember
Thanks guys! I'll upload more and better pics as soon as I get back to VIenna (mid-december). The warband has actually gained new members after these shots were taken.
Yeah, I like the colour scheme to be simple. Plus I always wanted to used warpaint for once on my models. The orcs are the perfect warband for that |

| I wanted the weapons to look as if they had been dipped into red warpaint a long time ago, which has now gone off for the most part (a little like on the GW ogre models).
I did this in 5 steps:
1) Heavy drybrush with "tin bitz"
2) Lighter drybrush with "Boltgun metal"
---> Now you have a plain rusty weapon. You can now add the "old" warpaint.
3) I "stamped" dark red paint onte the weapon with a small old brush (black+scab red I think). I made sure only the "inner" parts of the blade and the cracks would get well covered in dark red. The edges of the weapon I left out since this is where the paint would have gone off from the many fights.
4) I stamped a second layer with lighter red (please don't ask me which, I think "Blood Red") over the first one. However I made sure the dark red still came out underneath at some places. Thus getting a sort of patchwork of slightly different reds.
---> You now have 2 layers of warpaint: dark and light red.
5) Give the whole thing a VERLY LIGHT drybrush with boltgun metal again.
Done!
You can also add some chestnut ink in the cracks if you want the weapon to look oily. I think I did that... i don't remember though |
