Wow! You have a very cool army cianty. The xbowmen is cool, but his face isn't asian enough imho.
I wanna give you one advice about the cathayan rules in BTB: instead of using the word quarterstaff use the word bo . It's more cathayan style me think. Wink

BtW if You don't know what's bo, It's the name given to the quarterstaff in Martial Arts.

Well, I know the Asian words very well, don't worry. The names and labelings that are used have gone through a lot of discussion and there are good reasons why we ended up with what we have. Don't forget that we are talking Warhammer world here. This is not a historical wargame (leave that to Warhammer historical). There is no place for Chinese and Japanese terms here, except what can be considered house-hold knowledge (like Katana and Ninja). Consider these item's names Old Worldler labels for the strange and unfamiliar Cathayan items.

The crossbowman is finished!

He almost looks like a historical miniature with this color scheme. I tried to paint the face so that he would look less like a Old Worldler and more like a Cathayan. I think I sort of succeeded... I have to say I really hate painting white cloths or anything white. The consistency of Citadel's Skull White paint is hardly compatible with my skills.

Anyways, now the warband has a proper model for a lad's got talent crossbowman.

That ROCKS. The triad of black & white pics really show how perfectly you matched the mini to the "real" thing. The face is especially well done AND you included the tree. Bravo!

Cool model!! You respected the image almost like a mirror. nicely done!

But I'm even more impressed with your photos... they look really cool. I know that the background is just the wooden pattern of your table (or your floor) but with the light, it really looks like a wonderful sunset on an Oriental horizont... well done mate!

Ha ha, yeah I was very surprised about the background of that pic. It's my kitchen table. I thought the very same thing. The colours on that one are really good. Unfortunately the rest of the pic is a bit too dark so when I increase the lightness it becomes a bit pale.

If all else fails, I have a Marco Columbo languishing in his blister. So one way or the other you are guaranteed of having one eventually. I'm going international, oh baby!

This is most likely going to be the last model I do for the battle monks. What I still needed was a proper 'Lad's got Talent' model for the warrior monk henchmen.

I wanted to give him a unique look so while using the same head as the other warrior monks (henchmen) this one got a Shaolin “que” hairstyle, which I stole from this awesome conversion. The hair is made of different wires and, as always, Green Stuff. I gave the monk an axe because the LGT from my current warband is wielding one too (the lucky boy found a gromril axe).

Yet another beautiful piece of work; I'm very impressed. It's not just a nice sculpt; it's the sense of motion that really brings the mini to life, VERY, VERY WELL DONE!

Now when ever there's anything even vaguely Oriental on the tube, I automatically think of you & Cathay. Jacky Chan flicks will never be the same. Rolling Eyes

good stuff all around, do you paint weapons bronze to signify their gromril attributes? I don't even know if that is gromril's color but it seems right too me!

Erm... I have to admit that I have no clue. Seems like it could fit. But I will definately not paint his axe to look like a gromril weapon. That would be way too much for a 'normal' model. Not even Admin Tom could make me do this by enforcing WYSIWYG. Very Happy Razz
